4 out of 5 stars Brilliance for the 33+ time!   April 1, 2004
    Damion J. Rowan (Montreal, QC)

Ah, "Love Profusion"... The fourth single off American Life is also Mrs. Richie's (astonishing) THIRTY-THIRD (33) #1 dance single, the FIFTH #1 dance single available on this album, and the SIXTH Top 5 dance single, keeping in mind that "Nobody Knows Me" didn't hit #1 simply because Madonna was already there with her duet with Britney Spears...and this is considered Madonna's biggest flop. Man, I know some artists who wish they could say the same.

This was, by no means, my favourite song off the album (that goes to Mother & Father, which, so far, only has mediocre white-label mixes available), but the majority of the remixes on this maxi-single are extremely strong. No, this is not as strong a single as "Nothing Fails," which is the best single thus far of American Life (both the original and the remixes were brilliant...and the single had the three bonus mixes of "Nobody Knows Me"), but it is still MUCH better than the maxi singles of "Hollywood" and "American Life."

The Blow-Up Mix is an absolute electro-clash orgasm. It rips all the feeling from the song, but for six wonderful minutes, you don't care.

As the Passengerz Club Profusion begins, you remember what a remix is all about. Their reworking of this breathy track is absolutely brilliant (as is most of their work, but I digress...), and adds so much depth and swirl to a song that, I felt, lacked something when listening to the album version. They made me love this song...and you just wanna be alone on a dance floor.

Craig J's "Good Vibe" Mix I listened to once and probably won't again. Not to say it is a bad mix, but it is the epitome of stereotypical classic House, heavy on the bass and piano, and that bores me to death, despite the nifty vocal affects he does throw in about six minutes into the track. Nontheless, not for those who hate piano House...

...and neither is Rosario's Extended House Vocal, which is slightly more interesting than Craig J's...but not by much. Again, with the piano and bass and the "classic house" feel which became the demise of remixers like David Morales...

But then Rosario makes up for it COMPLETELY on both his Extended Big Room Vox and Big Room Dub. I am usually not a big fan of dub mixes but, again, on a Madonna single, I find one that, because of the amazing vocal affects Rosario uses, it keeps it fresh and interesting throughout (as Nevins accomplished with his Global Dub of "Nothing Fails"). The Vox mix uses an unforgettable bassline, a strong beat, and fantastic swirls of sound and vocal affects that guaranteed this song to be Madonna's third time atop the dance charts this year alone (and it's only March at the time of this posting).

To top it all off, Peter Rauhofer, who I find has done nothing even remotely important or mindblowing for years now (even his mixes of "Nothing Fails" and "Nobody knows Me" were merely adequate or mediocre in comparison to his previous work in the late 90s), ends this single with the first extraordinary remix he's done in ages!!! The Lost in Space Mix of "Nothing Fails" is his best work in eons, and definitely a worthwhile extra mix to be included on an already-strong maxi single.

Again, Madonna has proven that age ain't nothin' but a number, as her remixes continue to be new, creative, fresh and cutting edge...and she is still leading the way and paving the path, leaving everyone else behind. Her biggest flop when American Life has spawned five #1 dance singles and a tour which is selling out in record time around the world?

Yeah, she should hang her shame that this album has been so "unsuccessful."

She remains the most important woman in music...today, and ever.

This single just continues to prove it.

5 out of 5 stars WITH EACH REMIX, MADGE IS REBORN   March 17, 2004

The track listing are as follows:
    LOVE PROFUSION
    001 Blow Up Mix 6:09
002 The Passengerz Club Profusion 9:35
    003 Ralphi Rosario House Vocal(Extended) 7:29
    004 Craig J.'s "Good Vibe" Mix 7:14
    005 Ralphi Rosario Big Room Vox(Extended) 9:58
006 Ralphi Rosario Big Room Dub 8:57

    Bonus Track
    NOTHING FAILS
    007 Peter's LOst In Space Mix 8:39

Track number 001 is a nice and solid rock version of love profusion. It is a warm up number which prepares us for the second track(002). I first heard the second track at South Beach The Night Club here in Houston Texas. This is currently a dance club favourite which will more than likely guarantee Madonna another number one hit on the BillBoard Dance Chart. In track 003 we are taken back, forward, and beyond in the deliverance of phenominal house music! It is awesome to hear Madge's vocals on this extended track. Love it! Track 004 will take you by suprise the first time in about 3 minutes into the song. I am not quite sure how to explain it but the music gets really interesting and places you in a dance frenzy only to relax you later on in the song. Track 005,(like track 002) is where dance lovers will once again be spirited into music heaven. This is quite an uptempo remix and the longest on the cd clocking in at just under 10 minutes. I prefer The Passenger Club Profusion though. Get ready to sweat and burn to Ralphi Rosario Big Boom Dub(006)Madonna's voice for the most part is missing from this track with the exception of her blurting out "I've got u under my skin" and "You make me fel you make me shine" over and over again. Interestingly though, at some point, the music stops and we hear Madonna sing the chorus. That to me was the best part in this remix.

This cd comes with a scented insert of Estee Lauder's Beyond Paradise. Discover the new fantasy in fragrance. NOW LISTEN UP!
This cd comes with a bonus track(007) of NOTHING FAILS. I believe that Love Profusion is one of the best songs from the American Life Album and the remixes here can stand on their own. IT MAY OR MAY NOT COME AS A SURPRISE HOWEVER THAT THE BONUS TRACK(007) OF "NOTHING FAILS" (Peter's Lost in Space Mix) is undeniably the best dance track on this compact disc(with THE PASSENGER CLUB PROFUSION(002) running a close second.

    5 out of 5 stars madonna re-invented   April 2, 2004

I love this song. The Blow-Up mix has at all. new modern sound, good chord changes, great melodies, dark moody and more. I love her voice and what they did to it. I keep the cd player playing track #1 over and over again. The other tracks are ok but not very convincing to me, it seems i've heard them all before, nothing new here except track #1.

5 out of 5 stars Great Remixes of Great Madonna Songs   April 10, 2004
    David Anderson (St. Cloud, MN)

"Love Profusion" is Madonna's latest release from her 2003 album release "American Life". It includes a remixed version of her previous single release "Nothing Fails". "Love Profusion", a song written to her husband Guy Ritchie, and "Nothing Fails", a song written about her religious affiliations, were beautifully written lyrically and musically. This set of remixes gives her song a variety of theme ranges: house, techno, ambient, and electronica. These also express different sides of Madonna and her art. The variety of dance themes give this CD single the catchiness that makes it worth buying. The quality of this song earns her the 33rd career number one peak on Billboard's Dance Charts, an all-time record. Amazingly, the remixes do not lose the emotional value from the original versions Madonna intended. Though she obviously didn't remix the songs, this still showcases how amazing of an artist Madonna is. Though this set doesn't include the album versions of either song, it's still worth owning. Fans of this song and of Madonna should also buy her album "American Life". Such combination makes for an amazing musical journey from the Queen of Pop.

5 out of 5 stars love electro   March 19, 2004

Finally Madonna's remixers got it right with Love Profusion. The Blow-Up mix is the bomb, rockabilly guitar riff and fantastic modern electro beats. The mix has potential to be a huge hit on the radio so let's call up the stations and request the Blow-Up mix. Go girl!
