Classic EWF Album, but....Where's 'Love Music' & MORE! March 16, 2004 chakasworld (Atlanta, GA United States) 13 out of 14 found this review helpful
This remastered 2004 edition leaves much to be desired! This new version of 'I Am' has great remastering, but the lack of at least 3 RARE bonus tracks bring the project down. The 1st bonus cut ('Diana') is a worthy addition to the album, but 'Dirty' is merely alright since we already own both versions on other EWF CDs. Another track recorded during the 1978 sessions for 'I Am' was 'Love Music', and should've been included here. I advise fans to remaster this CD and include 'Love Music', which is STILL available on the 'Best Of EWF, Vol.1' (1978) CD. Sorry, but if they insisted on including 'Dirty' (Again!), then the original version of 'Where Do We Go From Here?' (updated mix found on 'The Promise' 2003!) should've been included too. With ONLY ONE UNRELEASED song, this new edition of 'I Am' fails to be all that it COULD'VE BEEN (when compared to the other remastered EWF CDS!). The liner notes for 'I Am' are fine, but I expected much more from this reissue. At any rate, If you already own the original 'I Am' CD, don't spend too much money on this 2004 reissue, and hey Maurice, what's up with the remastered editions of 'Head To The Sky' (1973) & 'Faces' (1980) ?? IMO, 'Faces' was a pretty decent follow up to 'I Am', and deserves the deluxe edition treatment!! Fans don't forget to add 'Love Music' to your CD (also include the extended 12" MIX of 'Boogie Wonderland' as a bonus track!!)...it BELONGS on 'I Am' right after the unreleased track 'Diana'. Just perfect! Peace, SD (of 'Chaka's World')

there last Great Album April 26, 2004 mistermaxxx@yahoo.com (usa) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I dig Earth,Wind&Fire but it's been years since they blew me away.this was there last great Album in a Run from 74-79 where they were on point on the Music&overall Production.Props to the Genius of Maurice White."Diana" is cool cut."Can't let go",Let your feelin's Show" are still slammin&the Horns are even better sounding now with the Re-mastering.still I know there has to be more vault material that hasn't been un-earthed especially during the Charles Stephney Era where he co-Produced with Maurice White.A Toast to the Elements.

If you don't have this CD, and you are thinking of buying it, think no more. This is another classic CD from EW&F.
