The latest and very welcome release from Janet is ultimately an album that is all about love-love for others, yourself, music, the rhythm, and Janet's love for her fans. Take a peek into this particular book-of-love's chapters...-"Damita Jo" joins a list of distinguished line of Janet anthems about positivity and respect, alongside earlier ones such as "Rhythm Nation". -"Exhibition" lives up to its title. Revealing, insistent, and a lot like J herself-irresistible. -"Strawberry Bounce" teases with its kid-like, sing-song vocals, backed by handclaps. It pairs the seemingly innocent vibe of a jumprope rhyme from the 'playground' with its grown-up messages, clearly demonstrating that love is nothing if not a contact sport. -"My Baby" flows. A valentine of a love song featuring Kanye West as its perfect masculine counterpart to Janet's girlish femininity. -"Spending Time with You" has a lulling, dreamlike quality that will have you planning your next getaway. -"Island Life" is an uptempo number that beckons you to the dancefloor to answer its siren call. Make sure you're with special someone. -"R&B Junkie" morphs from a musical journey that begins at one end of the musical spectrum and ends at another, taking you to most unexpected of places. Get your fix! -"I Want You". Sigh. A perfect source of inspiration for anyone attempting to express feelings of longing. Orchestral arrangements layered to represent the myriad of emotions love makes you feel, powerless to stop it-can't hide love... -"Like You Don't Love Me" A surprisingly open confession about wanting, and needing, to be wanted and needed. Plenty of 'attitude'. -"Thinkin' Bout My Ex" shares both J's regret and wishful thinking. It recalls mixed emotions present in many a slow jam from then and now. Believe J's sincerity when she pleads, "You know I never meant to break your heart"...-"Truly" A declaration of love as well as a request for reciprocation. Features an understsed quality in song that harks back to J's own brother Michael, and his smash "Human Nature". While the two songs are quite different, they both carry at a same message: we must have equality in all areas of life in order to survive-accept nothing less. -"SloLove keeps the party goin.Picture it-club scene. Night life. What else-mirror balls, strobe lights...velvet rope, maybe? -"Just a Little While", with its dizzyingly boundless energy, and hip-shakin' electric guitar, is the perfect closer...it leaves you begging for more. One more spin, at the very least! Play that funky music again, Janet! From beginning to end, this album's like a good friend-keep it handy 'cause, it's always truthful, just watchuneed, and can't live without.

I'm still surprised that this one only sold 1 million copies in the USA. There are some standout tracks - Island Life, Spending Time With You, All Nite (Don't Stop) just to name a few.
