NO NONSENSE COVER ART FOR A NO NONSENSE ALBUM... June 8, 2008 wally gator (USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
The first Aerosmith album often goes underapprecited by the members of the band. Apparently they are embarresed by it. Why? I dunno. The first A-Smith album rocks. The recording wasn't top of the line, but all the material was tight enough, that you can barely notice the bare bones job. The band kicks it into gear with a sound that was being hailed by local followers as the future of rock and roll around 1973. My vinyl copy is from the first pressing, handed down a few times before it came to me. I like the simple cover art of the first pressings. The cover matches the feel of the content. Its just the band. No Nonsense whatsoever. You want Aerosmith, here it is. The new cover is sort of stupid, and I think overstates the whole record, not to mention looks kinda... I don't know, stupid. Eight tunes, showcase at once the bands talents; Hard rock, blues rock, ballads. DREAM ON is a smash, the ladies still love it... ONE WAY STREET is a kickin 7 minute stomp, WALKIN THE DOG is a ace kickin vision of the classic, and MOVIN OUT still one of the coolest vocal performances ever done by Steven Tyler on record, and apparently this was BEFORE he found his real voice. Thats just one half of the thing. A-smith One is as essential to rock as any of the other classics. They just should have kept the old cover design. It's a peice of history. That record that kids'll find in the attic for years to come, and blow their minds out with. Aerosmith by Aerosmith.
