Amazon.com Given his turn into kinder, gentler movie roles, longtime fans of former SNL star Sandler's pubescent potty humor should welcome this long-overdue collection of sketches and musical parodies. "Low-brow" doesn't quite do the album's relentlessly puerile, if impressively loopy, bent justice; with an orbit that rarely strays much below mid-thigh or above the beltline, it's arguably the most crotch-centric album of the comedian's career. While at least one of the recurring characters (clueless octogenarian daredevil Mr. Pibb) quickly wears thin, bits like "Wolfman" and "Calling Home" triumph by pushing familial dysfunction to surreal extremes--and then some. While none quite match the charming insouciance of "The Chanukah Song," the musical numbers here are often the main attraction, from the mock Brit-punk self-love anthem "The Amazing Willy Wanker" and "The Mayor of Pussytown" (a hip-hop boast-fest to underendowment of every stripe) to "Stan the Man," Sandler's bittersweet ode to his late father. Longtime collaborator Alan Covert is again featured, as are cameos by fellow SNL alums Molly Shannon, David Spade, and Rob Schneider, whose chemistry with Sandler provides some of the album's most sublime silliness. --Jerry McCulley

Shhh...Don't tell August 4, 2005 3 out of 7 found this review helpful
I just bought this CD and it was the worst CD ever put out by Adam Sandler. I am a real fan of Adam Sandler but this was pathetic. I figured out why the title is call Shhh...Don't tell, it's because Shhh...Don't tell anyone that this is a piece of crap so others will buy it. I am sorry Adam but I know you can do better than this.

I waited since July 13, 2003 to get this album. I waited and waited for what seemed like forever. Now, it's out. And after listening to every song, skit and everything in between I have good news, its amazing!Sid & Alex:I heard this when i bought it through iTunes and its a good opener. It's not as good as Stan and Judy's opener but its still good. -4.5/5 Pibb Goes surfing: Four skits about Mr.Pibb on this album. They never mad me laugh out loud but they were really good. This one is a pretty cool one. -4/5 The amazing Willy Wanker: A good song that's definitly sick and gross but it's got a great tune and a funny accent. A little thick though. -4.5/5 Gay robot: Very, very, very funny and well written. It's definintly my kind of humor. -5/5 Pibb Skateboards: It's pretty funny cause people falling off skakeboarding. -4/5 Creepin on the mayor: Has nothing to do that I can tell with creepin on mayors in the way i thought creepin was. Its about some thugs F**** with the mayor and he hides. Bad stuff happens to him. -4.5/5 The mayor of pu**ytown:Its a rap song about being a pansy. Its hillarious. -5/5 Pibb tour: It's just a little bland and a little too long. -3.5/5 Wolfman: A dad thinks hes a wolfman/dj for old rock music. His son confronts him about his problem and how hes not a wolf. -4.5/5 Secret: Crazy techno song and very funny, awesome lyrics. It's awesome. Awesome, awesome song. Boss and secritary: This is a downer of a track to me. It's not very funny but its a good concept its just gross. 2.5/5 Best Friend: Its a hillarious song if you listen to the things that happen to the freinds and think about it. 5/5 Pibb needs Rock: Funny skit about Pibb gettin a spa treatment in his body locker. -4/5 Mule Session: Could have been much, much better if the beat was consistant. Its just a like scratch record with some stuff that ryhmes with mule. Its very funny, dont get me wrogn but the acoustic guitar should have been played throughout. 4-.5/5 Newlyweds, Sleepyheads: Funny stuff. It's awesome. -5/5 Calling home: Its a mix of an old skit (cant remember what its called) and i guess a new character. Its pretty much a kid going to school on his own and his family calls him and his room mate.-5/5 Mr. I do and the doo doo's: A short song about getting hitched and it's perks. Its ok. 4/5 W**** where are you!!!!: This is about a guy loosing his wife in his house (like actually mis placing her) and then it turns out that she was just out of the house. Its just funny to me for a reason I don't know how to explain. 4/5 Stan the Man: To me, this song is a really good song. Not only is the music awesome but the lyrics are kinda sad becuase its about the loss of Adam's dad. Its kind of a funny goodbye song if that makes sense. By the way, if you heard this on Letterman its recorded live and got more verses. 5/5! best song.
shhh... don't tell July 15, 2004 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
First off, I'll have to say that the five star rating is pretty much just support for the sand man, considering I'm an enormous fan... three or three and a half stars would have been more honest. With his first album, "They're All Gonna Laugh At You!", it was basically laugh out loud almost every skit.. constantly. "What The Hell Happened To Me?" was a step back, but it was still hysterical, and remains also a classic in my book. Then "What's Your Name?" was pretty forgettable and his fourth LP "Stan and Judy's Kid" just was'nt very funny. "Shhh... Don't Tell!" is better than his last two, but pales in comparison to his first two albums. It starts off with the skit "Sid and Alex", which almost as hysterical as "Assistant Principal's Big Day" from "They're All Gonna Laugh At You". After that I thought I was in for another "They're All Gonna Laugh At You". Next was the first of the four Pibb skits. The skits he uses multiple times likes the "severe beating", "excited southener", and "cool guy" are never very funny, so I was'nt very disappointed by it. "The Amazing Willy Wanker" is sung in a very stupid, annoying sounding fake british accent, but it has a good chorus. After that is "gay robot", which is hilarious. Then there are few really disappointing skits that hurt the record. "creepin on the mayor" is kinda funny, but not really laugh-out-loud funny, then "timmy tinyhole" which would have been funny if I were in the sixth grade, and "Wolfman" has a funny concept, but doesnt get any real laughs. But then "the boss and the secretary", "newlyweds, sleepyheads", "calling home", and "whore! where are you?" are all hilarious and make up for the bad skits, although "the boss and secretary" is a little disgusting for my tastes. As for the songs, "secret", "the mayor of p****town", and "stan the man" are good, but the rest suck, "the mule session" being the worst song adam has ever done. That being said, this is basically half great, and half not very good. I have some friends that pretty much say his gross skits basically rape them via stereo, so like all his albums, it is definitely not for everyone. I would recommend getting his first two, and this. Skip "What's Your Name" and "Stan and Judy's Kid".3 1/2 stars
Good CD! Disturbing skits! BUT STILL GOOD!! February 16, 2005 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
This CD is freaking halarious! I laughed a whole bunch. I'm a big Adam Sandler fan and this is the first cd of his that I got. The first time I listened to this cd it disturbed me a little bit. Especially "The Boss And The Secretary." The Best Songs on here are "Secret", "Stan the man", and "Mayor of P***ytown"! And The Mayor song isn't like you may think. It took me by suprise. This CD rules! A highly suggested cd!

Listen, I'm the biggest Adam Sandler fan, but this album's a disappointment. It's twenty tracks of skits and songs. The first 19 just seem like filler, leading up to a track about Sandman's father who died the previous year. "Gay Robot", "Creepin' On the Mayor" and "Newlyweds, Sleepyheads" are decent skits (the skits are better than than the musical tracks), but I wouldn't pay a whole 20 dollars just for the sketches. There are thirteen skits and seven songs (one of my favorites being The Mule Session). Most skits are pretty foul, but also hilarious ("Wolfman", "Calling Home") and others are just as juvenile or lame, but not funny at all ("Tim Tinyhole", "Pibb ... Mexican ATV Tour"). Guest David Spade's only appearance on this album is on an unfunny 20-second track about a fart.
Since I'm no longer in [junior] high school, I'm into more than just fart jokes, but I still enjoy Sandler's films and records. I'm no longer an adolescent, but that doesn't mean I only like jokes about algebra or something. I don't really recommend this album for minors either. Adam Sandler's little PG-13 movies are nothing like his CDs, which contains strong language, adult situations and gross humor.
If you liked They're All Gonna Laugh At You or What The Hell Happened to Me, you are most likely gonna enjoy Shhh...Don't Tell. B+
