You Promised You Would Release it in the US!! August 31, 2005 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
After about seven years in the spotlight, it is apparent that the A-Teens are taking a much needed vacation, leaving us with 16 tracks to ease our eagerly anticipated next album (that's if they will get back together. Cross your fingers!) No matter, this is still a very enjoyable greatest hits compilation, even if it wasn't released in the U.S.
1. Mamma Mia - It was the A-Teens first No.1 hit in Sweden and I can see why. It is a great cover of Abba's hit, pepped up with more dance beats! (5/5) 2. Upside Down - Why we call it 'Bouncing off the Cieling' I will never know. But it is one of A-Teens biggest hits in the U.S.! (Hitting No.12) I believe! Of course it was their first No.1 hit single in Sweden that wasn't a cover! (5/5) 3. Gimme Gimme Gimme - For some reason, I prefer the video version of this song. It has better dance beats and has a darker feeling. This version is ok as well. Another cover and good dance song. (4/5) 4. Floorfiller - Hit No.5 in Sweden and it's a great dance track! Love the part when Dhani says, "Hands swinging high like a chopper in the sky!" (5/5) 5. Dancing Queen - I am with everyone else when they say that by the time they put this on a compilation, it has gotten tiresome. Doesn't sound like their other ABBA covers, sounds more Britney than anything. (3/5) 6. Perfect Match - This is so much better than the album version. The radio version has more of a rock edge with better beats. Hit No.2 in Sweden! (5/5) 7. ...To The Music - This was a single?! Apparently it was only released in the U.S. and I think "For All That I Am" should have been released before this. An ok-song, nothing spectacular. (3/5) 8. Halfway Around the World - So bouncy and so fun to listen to! This is a definate favorite and was huge on Disney and Nick. Music video is also very fun to watch. (5/5) 9. Sugar Rush - Ok no matter if this is Dreamstreet's or A-Teens, the song is still lame no matter what. A-Teens has a nice mellow version though with good harmonies. (3/5) 10. Super Trouper - Another No.2 hit for them. I love the bridge of the song! It is so awesome. I don't know why people think this is such a bad song. (4/5) 11. Heartbreak Lullaby - The ballad version is ok, but the Ray Hedges version is SO much better and should have been put on here!!! Still, nice vocals. (4/5) 12. Can't Help Falling In Love - Such an awesome song and an international hit! Yes, its a cover but who cares?! Sounds better than ever! (5/5) 13. Let Your Heart Do All The Talking - I honestly don't know why this on here - was this a single? If anything, "Closer To Perfection" should have been taken from New Arrival/Pop Til You Drop. Not this. (3/5) 14. The Final Cut - Great song written by two members of the group! Defiately a slower song and its kinda depressing. But nonetheless, a good song. (4/5) 15. With Or Without You - Another great new song written by the group! People complain that the song lacks beats, but if you want songs cluttered with manufactured music, there's Britney for that! (4/5) 16. I Promised Myself - Hands down their best single!!! The Attic Remix is so awesome! And the video is great too! Yet again another cover, but hit No.2 in Sweden! EAR CANDY! (10/5)
All in all, it's a great album and should have been released in the U.S.! The question now is will they get back together.

The A*Teens at their very best November 19, 2004 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
It's true, the A*Teens are a sweet, delicious guilty pleasure, and not much more. But their music is insanely catchy, mind-blowingly addictive, and it's HAPPY-it really motivates you to get up and dance, to just let go and enjoy yourself. So their airy moments are somewhat justified. Either way, this is a must-have CD if you like pop-because the A*Teens have mastered it. And this is most definitely as good as they get-though they didn't have too many radio hits in America, they were a smash overseas, and rightfully so. Here's a review of each song:
MAMMA MIA- Quite possibly their best song ever, and also likely the best song here. Their covers of Abba's hits I actually enjoy a lot-they're faster, more fun, more danceable. I am sad to say I can't draw too much enjoyment from the original versions, because they are too slow, too raw, too old-fashioned-sounding. But this is very catchy, very fun, very danceable. (5/5)
UPSIDE DOWN (BOUNCING OFF THE CEILING)- This was their first single that wasn't a cover, and it is also a very good song! Extremely catchy, very happy song. Kids who have ever had crushes will probably be able to relate to this. My second or third favorite song here, probably. (5/5)
GIMME GIMME GIMME (A MAN AFTER MIDNIGHT)- This is also an extremely good cover of an Abba song. An almost eerie melody, but very danceable, very catchy. Such an awesome song to listen to. One of their best Abba covers. The first three tracks here are definitely my favorites. (5/5)
FLOORFILLER- I like this one, a very fun dance song, but it isn't quite as good as the first three here. It's a little more childish-a little too reminiscent of Kidz Bop s*** *shiver*. But, it's still pretty good and is worthy of being on here. (4/5)
DANCING QUEEN- I don't know why, but I don't like this song quite as much as I did when it first came out. There is a *very* small chance that I might actually like the original better. This one gets kind of annoying after a while for some reason, but it is still pretty good. Way more modern-sounding and poppy than Abba's version. Nice little dance tune-slower than most dance tracks here. (4/5)
A PERFECT MATCH- Meh, this one's okay. An attempt at punk rock pop. An interesting little message. The chorus is the best part-and the catchy, fun chorus saves this song from just sucking. Not one of the best here, but still....it's alright. (3/5)
...TO THE MUSIC- This is a fun little song, but yet again, it can't compete with the first three. The chorus is good. It's probably a bit better than "A Perfect Match." Sweet little song. But not incredible. (3/5)
HALFWAY AROUND THE WORLD- This is another really good one. Very catchy, infectious chorus, fun, happy sound. Ever sad that someone you love is going away for awhile? This might cheer you up. This one gets better and better, the more I hear it. A favorite of mine. (5/5)
SUGAR RUSH- I remember hearing a clip of this song [the chorus] a while back, and I just went nuts over it. I like it a tad less now that I've heard the whole thing, but it is still a VERY good song. The lyrics are a tad too corny, and when I found out that Dream Street did a version too, it was discomforting-now every time I hear the song I'm reminded of THEM >_<. Anyways, very sweet melody, nice background effects. Good song. (4/5)
SUPER TROUPER- For some reason, I don't like this song. There are better ones on The Abba Generation. It's okay, but a little too old-fashioned sounding and generic. (2/5)
HEARTBREAK LULLABY- This song was supposedly on the import version of the Princess Diaries soundtrack, and I don't really like it. I don't like the A*Teens' ballads. The beginning is so-so, but it really isn't that great. Boring, generic. (1/5)
CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE- This is another favorite of mine. An Elvis cover; they made an extremely slow ballad a very fun dance track! Many ballads would seem awkward when changed to a dance track, but this works just as well as a dance track as it did a ballad-if not better! Probably the best song off their third album. (5/5)
LET YOUR HEART DO ALL THE TALKING- Like Britney and Madonna's ever-changing style, the A*Teens have had a few mild 'reinventions' of their own. This is a side of them I've never seen. Instead of sugary dance pop, we hear hard-hitting, crackling electrofunk in this track. Not a favorite of mine-but a somewhat catchy chorus. (3/5)
THE FINAL CUT- I don't like this one that much. The chorus is okay, but the beat isn't fantastic. The lyrics are interesting, though. This sends the message that the band is pretty much finished-'I believe in what we had, I believe in what we said, we gotta understand that it's time to let it go, holding on to yesterday, it will never be the same, but now it's time to make the final cut.' (3/5)
WITH OR WITHOUT YOU- The last couple of tracks are a little too slow and a little too depressing-all of them seem to be discussing the group/band splitting up. This one's alright, but I don't like it much. This one has a good message to send, though, and can say something important to couples breaking up. But a not-so-interesting beat ruins it. (2/5)
I PROMISED MYSELF- By far, the best new track here. Rather sad, yet again, and almost melancholically romantic, but a happy, optimistic-sounding melody. I like this one, but it isn't quite as good as their previous smashes. (4/5)
OVERALL SCORE: 58/80
This is a must-have for pop lovers, and the only CD to get if you're a casual fan of the A*Teens. Good luck finding a copy if you don't live in Europe, though.....-_-....there was never an official American release, and NO ONE seems to have it in the U.S. You can't even order it @_@. I had to get it here at amazon. This is a very satisfying hits collection-pretty much all of my favorite A*Teens tracks are here. My only complaint is that I wish they would have included "Take A Chance On Me," because that is one of my favorite tracks off of The Abba Generation. It's also true that their voices aren't spectacular-but I can think of far worse. Marie [the blonde], however, can sing. Though it has its flaws, I reluctantly give it 5 stars, and I highly recommend this great CD to lovers of pop who are sick of the trashiness. Some songs on here are so unbelievably catchy and addictive, you will want to hear them again and again. As Courtney Kemp stated in her review of Teen Spirit, the A*Teens indeed have 'no funky ambitions and nothing to prove'-they are simply out to have fun and are open to others joining in-and I can guarantee their music will make you want to do just that.
The A*teens Greatest Hits July 26, 2004 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This compact disc is a compilation of the A*teens greatest hits. The first 13 songs are from their "Abba Generation", "Teen Spirit", and "Pop 'Til You Drop" cds. The are great songs and represent the A*teens musical style, which I would describe as funky, upbeat, European pop music. There are 3 new songs at the end: "The Final Cut", "With or Without You", and "I Promised Myself". "The Final Cut" is funkier and "With or Without You" represents the style of alot of their other songs. "I Promised Myself" is very Euro-pop. The music video is cool - you can check it out at the A*teens official website: http://www.a-teens.com. Amazon's price of $30.99 is a rip-off. I know the cd is imported, so that jacks the price up. If you don't want to spend that much, check into some of Amazon's other venders that give you a new one for a cheaper price. E-bay is a good deal as well, some of the venders offer the cd for under $10 (excluding shipping and handling). I already had the other cds and I just wanted the three new songs, so Amazon's price was too high for me. I just got it from one of the above mentioned venders of Amazon. This cd is great for any true A*teens fan.
One of the greatest Greatest Hits album May 4, 2005 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is definitely a great album. In my opinion, the tracks here (including three new ones) are the best. Three new tracks: The Final Cut, With or Without You, and I Promise Myself are outstanding. My favourite is definitely I PROMISE MYSELF.
