Just when you thought the current surplus of pop princesses would cause the leather-miniskirted bottom to drop out, along vamps Christina Milian with a crackling new CD whose 12 songs outshine "AM to PM," her 2001 hit. In the Cuban-American Milian, J-Lo has found her heir apparent (not that she was looking): The songs spotlight a similar sex-i-fied energy, jumbling attitude, vulnerability, and a jigger of jadedness into a heaving, R&B-leaning, red-hot heap. The secret is whip-smart production--credit players who have worked with Alicia Keys, J-Lo, and Mariah Carey--especially on "I Need More," which showcases an array of pings, pulses, and from-the-gut guitar. When we're not singing along to lyrics like "It'll be a cold day in hell before you see your girl shed another tear, boy you better hear me," bottom lip pushed out for emphasis, we're shouting "go, girl" from the sidelines. Or at least wanting to. If the radio hit "Dip It Low" hasn't pushed you to pick up this disc already, it is, in fact, about time. --Tammy La Gorce

    Album Description
You know her from the infectious single "AM To PM" which hit the top position on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart in 2001, yet that was just a taste of what this multi-faceted young woman is capable of.Christina Milian is a multi-talented phenomenon whose resume includes film, television, theater and music. With starring roles in feature films and her highly-anticipated debut album "It's About Time" ready for release, Milian is poised to take the entertainment industry by storm. One listen to "It's About Time" and it is clear that Christina is in a decidedly more mature space. "I'm older now. When "AM To PM" came out I was a teenager. Now I'm 22 and so songs on this album have a little more depth to them." The depth is evident by the album's R&B vibe and lyrics that have a bit more edge. You can feel the sexy point of view on cuts like the up-tempo "Love." Produced by Warryn Campbell and featuring label mate Joe Budden, "Love" vibrates with a retro 80's dance club feel.

2 out of 5 stars Waste of "Time"   July 1, 2004

A few years have passed since the debut of Christina Milian. Short-lived singles like "From AM to PM" and "Get Away" were at first well received, but eventually quieted down. Throughout the last two years, she has kept things relatively on the low, only just reappearing in 2003's "Love Don't Cost A Thing". It wasn't an Oscar-winning performance or movie, mind you, but it did remind everybody that Christina Milian was indeed still around. Unfortunately, although she is still around, she still has nothing to offer. I must admit she had me fooled with her lead single "Dip It Low". I initially wasn't a big fan of the song, but the alluring hook eventually got to me. And when comparing this single with her earlier ones, it is evident that she has matured. But not enough. Maybe I'm being a little too critical, but songs like "Highway", "I'm Sorry", & "Miss You Like Crazy" start off all right, but then fall flat. The quality of songs is sub par, ranging from the annoying "L.O.V.E.", the repetitive "Whatever You Want", and the semi-pitchy Janet Jackson-esque "I Need More". Some of the production is questionable too; including the surprisingly dull "Diwali Riddim"-esque-"Dark Child"-produced "Get Loose" and confusingly cluttered "Peanut Butter & Jelly". However, below all the fillers, there is one song that shines: the "SWV"-esque slow-jam "Someday One Day". But even with that said, it still cannot redeem anything more than what this album is: a waste of time. Perhaps the only thing "it's about time" for is the learning to distinguish good quality and omitting the bad.

3 out of 5 stars Not Quite Time...   June 22, 2004

If Christina Milian doesn't find longevity in the music industry then she can blame this album. That's not to say that 'It's About Time' is awful. It's just... well... there isn't anything new and innovative to set Christina apart from all the other 'divas.' Dip it Low is of course the pinnacle of the album. Milian's shimmering, lush vocals and semi-explicit lyrics add maturity to her otherwise childish album. It may sound as though I am dissing Milian's newest studio effort, but in actuality, I wish she would have found a musical niche and stuck with it. Every song on the album is good at first listen, but if fans are expecting to wear this cd out in their car decks, think again.

American fans have waited for more than 3 years to get their hands on a Christina Milian album, and unfortunately, after hearing preview tracks from her self-titled debut, I would have to say her first time out was the real charm. Milian of course has to have guest appearances. Fabolous fits PERFECTLY inside the intoxicating rhythms of 'Dip it Low', but Joe Budden, who consistently appears on two tracks, fails to make his mark with his drunken drawls. His breakdown in the song L.O.V.E. is great when meshed with the 80's beats and Christina's honeyed vocals.

Elsewhere is typical R&B/pop fare. 'Highway' is the ultra-explicit slow jam that Milian can, and most likely will, use to seperate herself from her Disney days. The song is okay at first listen, but is easily skipable thereafter. In fact, besides Dip it Low, L.O.V.E, and the stomp/clap rhythms of Get Loose, Milian provides no consistency and absolutely no innovative, unexplored frontier. It is both unfair to American fans who have waited diligently for Milian's return, and unfair to Milian herself, who is deserving if not trying to be a baby 'J.Lo'

And I Love Her From her Debut Album "CM" which was My Best Album Until Now. In This Album, I discover that Christina Milian be more mature than before. And When I See her, I Feel Like she's Janet Jackson of 21 century.
And I just want to show my point of view about this legendry R&N/Pop Album.

5 out of 5 stars ITS ABOUT TIME THIS THANG CAME OUT IN THE US FOR HER DEBUT!   July 10, 2004

1ST OF ALL, THURRS THIS SO-CALLED "MUSIC FAN" THAT NEVER BOUGHT HER CD CUZ HE/SHE LISSENS TA ROCK! THIS IS A R&B/HIP-POP ALBUM. HATERS = JEALOUSY & ENVY

    Intro-
the intro is simply saying its about time she told us about her self and its about time she was back, it is actually a very good intro and wouldve been good if it ad been made into a real track! 5/5

    Dip it Low feat fabolous-
You've all heard Dip It Low havent you, you've heard the version when she sings by herself and if you've got cd 2 of the single you wouldve heard the version wit shawna but this version features Fabolous and it is just as good as the other two! his rap is really clever and catchy but christina brill as well and a good vid to go wit it! 5/5

    I Need more-
This actually a pop rock song and surprisingly its quite good, very catchy I like the song as I like songs with a rocky edge like this but I can't see this as a single but it would be good as one! It actually sounds a bit like britney i got that boom Boom on the chorus! Plus her song I Need More actually samples rachel stevens glide even though it doesnt say in the credits so i thought i'd point that out! 5/5

    Whatever U Want-
This is 2nd single to be taken of the album as it was announced last week, and it is very catchy and very 80's this will do well in my opinion and it is single material, its got a catchy chorus that we will all be singing to soon! Its due out in august! 5/5

    Someday Oneday-
For all of you who havent got her first album you won't of heard her singing a ballad and this is and its very good! her vocals are very good and really suit the song the bridge is very catchy and I could see this as a single! 4.5/5

    Highway-
Looking at the title you would think its going to be a very funky song but its not its actually a very mid tempo and is quite catchy! I can't see it as a single if it was to be a single it would have to be a new version funkier its still good! 4/5

    Get Loose-
This sounds like something that R Kelly has written like snake, I really like this its a real grower loving it! Its got a catchy bridge and chorus and I could see this a single as its quite different don't hear alot of songs like this! 5/5

    I'm Sorry-
This song is brill the music really compliments the song with the drums in the background and it sounds like a motown and you don't hear alot of them nowadays! very good can also see this as a single! 5/5

    L.O.V.E feat joe budden-
This is very 80's and really cool. joes rap is very catchy and christinas chorus is really catchy and I'm it now while I'm listening to it! Her vocals are very strong on this and really compliments the song. This could also be a single I like it! 5/5

    Peanut Butter & Jelly-
this is one hell of a groove and if you listen to this you gotta tap your feet and nod your head! Brilliant this is soooooooooooooooooooo catchy can see this a single most definatly 5/5

    Miss You Like Crazy-
the lyrics to this a very good like I MISS YOU LIKE THE SKY MISSES THE BIRDS I MISS YOU LIKE A SONG WITHOUT THE WORDS really good very catchy this could also be a single! 4.5/5

    Oh Daddy-
I know if you look at the title of this song you think its gon be about sex but your wrong its actually a very emotional song about how her dad left her when she was young very sad but cannot see this as a single 4/5

Over all this album is brilliant and is very different to her debut Christina Milian. Theres alot of single potential on here and I can't wait to here about the rest of the singles here Is what I think should be the singles!

    1. Dip It Low
    2. Whatever U Want
    3. I'm Sorry
    4. Peanut Butter & Jelly
    5. I Need More/ I Can Be That Woman

    CHRISTINA UR BRILLIANT!!!
