Carry my joy, on the left April 17, 2005 Gyakusetsu (Colorado, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the best incarnation of the Who is it single. The bell choir mix (The version used on the video) is astounding. The original album mix has it's own special character to it, but the bells add a very distinctive, joyful undertone to the song. The two remixes (C2n Dattasette & Fruit Machine) again let you explore the deeper 'medulla' of the song. Both are quite good remixes, in that they don't go overboard with the dance/extended aspect you find with a lot of remixes. The fold out poster is really cool too! Really worth it just for the poster (A shot of Bjoerk from the Medulla photo shoot).
This is it, the remixes! December 2, 2004 Dogville (Sunny Island) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
In typical Bjork fashion, her remixes seldom fails. The first remix of Who Is It, the Dattasette Mix adds in some electronic beeps and effects with a slightly more uptempo backing track. The Fruit Machine Mix adds in a slight trip hop flavor to the original although it doesn't alter the original a whole lot. It's still enjoyable. The Bell Chior Mix is the best mix here. Heard as a slightly varied version in the video, this mix has lots of bells, adding some kind of a musical box effect along with an understated choir which serves to make the song even more beautiful. As usual, I recommend CD1 and the DVD with the video too.
