I Believe in Kylie and Music January 1, 2005 Dogville (Sunny Island) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
While Kylie Minogue consistently makes the right collaborations, the same can't be said of Madonna. After the excellent Body Language, Kylie returns to the electronic whizz of Fever by working with Babydaddy and Jake Shears from one of 2004's most promising bands, The Scissor Sisters. The result - a good retro-electro mix complete with a lovingly dreamy chorus that seems to complement Ms Minogue's voice so flawlessly. This has to be one of the better singles out of 2004 besides the string of campy songs from the sisters themselves. It's clearly a right move for Kylie and if it's a sign of things to come, I am certainly waiting for Kylie's next album.
Mylo's Vocal Mix of I Believe You removes the charm of the original and replaces it with a slightly repetitive Euro dance beat. Certianly not one of Mylo's best mixes if you have heard stuff from his own album.
The Sylark Mix raises the barometer a tad bit more with a more dancefloor friendly backbeat and melody with little vocals.
The video to I Believe In You is simple yet beautifully shot with an airy quality to itand Kylie moving inside a big rotating wire cage.
For the title track itself, this CD is worth buying.
PS: CD1 of this single should have only two tracks, I Believe In You and BPM. This tracklisting with remixes and video should go to CD2 (Enhanced). Amazon.com should change the error.
Kylie goes Moroder meets Kraftwerk - another pop confection! January 19, 2005 G. Mitchell (Los Angeles, CA United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is nothing earth-shattering, yet a return to form after her naked attempt to move units in the U.S. market by going all R&B/hip-hop on us - no no no! We like Kylie exactly like THIS - all Giorgio Moroder "I Feel Love" electro bassline meets Kraftwerk "Pocket Calculator" (at least in the slick MYLO remix!) and Kylie's trademark they-evaporate-before-your-ears breathy vocals - this might be a radio hit on U.S. radio, but I think not - it's not as addictive and "instant" as past singles like "Can't Get You Out of My Head" or even "Love At First Sight" -I tell you, if you remixed and re-released her own "Spinning Around" cut from years ago THAT would be a hit in America - should have been, but that was before mainstream radio "got her" in the States - oh well, I always thought they should have gone with "Secret (Take Me Home)" from the "Body Language" CD - another missed opportunity! The VIDEO proves once again that Kylie knows the secret to success: LESS is more! Kylie does more with a head tilt and a fingersnap that Britney and her ilk do with a whole troupe of dancers!
By FAR Kylie's Best! December 12, 2004 An American Fan (USA) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have never heard a song like this before, it is my NEW favorite song! The constant pulsating, thumping beat makes you feel like you are flying thru space at the speed of light. Kylie's vocals are strong, clear, and confident. She KNEW it was an amazing song when she recorded it, you can tell in her delivery. If working with the Scissor Sisters is what it takes to produce music like this then for God's sake Kylie create a whole album with them!!! Good work Kylie, We Believe In You!
By far, her best. January 27, 2005 Samuel W. Bourne III (Owings Mills, Maryland United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been a Kylie fan since "I Should Be So Lucky" and I have to simply say one thing.
This is by far, the best song Kylie has ever recorded.
Can't Get Her Out Of My Stereo! January 25, 2005 Martin (Boston, MA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first time I heard this song was while also seeing the video for the first time........fabulous! As a 17-year Kylie fan, she can do no wrong. I believe there's one reason now why she has trouble making it here in the US. The so-called pop music scene is comletely regulated by 13-year olds who have zero interest in dance music.......and any "artist" over the age of 19. If parents would stop giving their GD kids so much GD money, there would be a change here. But, for now, all we can do is be ashamed. On a happier note, I just discovered that the Ultimate Kylie DVD is now available in NTSC format! The neighbors are going to LOVE me!!!!!
