    Editorial Reviews:

    Album Description
With an impressive string of releases behind them and worldwide record sales closing in on two million, Sweden's Millencolin are back. "Kingwood" incorporates the driving melodies of their last album, "Home From Home" and looks back to the classic punk snarl of "Pennybridge Pioneers". "They've got massive, harmonious songs...in the classic tradition of The Descendents and Dag Nasty"--Kerrang.

5 out of 5 stars WELCOME BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!   June 4, 2005

Man, I love these guys. Life on a Plate changed my life. When I first learned to skate, my favorite CD to skate to was Life on a Plate. It always got me pumped up like crazy. Pennybridge Pioneers changed my life. This CD was incredible, it really had so much great. Anthems of my life. Anyhow, Home from Home made me very very sad. One of my favorite bands had finally released a CD I was dissappointed in. Guess it was about time, but I was so accustommed to their previous greatness that it was a little shocking. Anyhow, to get to the matter at hand. This CD, from my first listen, is AWESOME. AWESOME. AWESOME. These guys are so freakn great. It was like getting back together with an old friend and talking about the good old times we'd shared. Playing this CD finally gave me some great new tunes to listen to and obsess over this summer. Thank you Millencolin, I should have never doubted you. When everyone turns to screamo, Millencolin expands on their sound while still staying true to their beginngings. Sweden rules, USA could learn much from you!

4 out of 5 stars Bon CD   July 10, 2005

3 out of 5 stars Another solid one from Sweden's finest   April 12, 2005

For years, Millencolin was my favourite band because of strong releases such as Same Old Tunes, Life on a Plate, and For Monkeys, but they grew up and changed their sound after their hiatus during which they released The Melancholy Collection. Their next album, Pennybridge Pioneers, showed the start of their evolution while Home From Home was a great follow-up which supported the sound of Pennybridge Pioneers.

Their newest album, Kingwood, continues this evolution while remaining reminiscent of their old sound which many fans are worried might never come back. While it surely doesn't sound as much like their first three releases as many had hoped, Kingwood represents Millencolin's maturity as a band and ties in with their last two albums as another solid trilogy. However, as decent as this album is, it leaves one looking for more from their latest effort. A couple songs just don't seem to fit on this album and the entire album just feels too short (it's only 34 minutes), but all in all it's a decent album and it leaves me optimistic for their future work. Still, I can't help but hope that they'll return a little bit back to their old sound.

Millencolin remains to be one of my favourite bands to this day and they are still a great band to see live in concert but Kingwood leaves me wanting more.

5 out of 5 stars great return to form   April 13, 2005

I have to start by saying I was let down by Home From Home in a big way. It just felt to me like it was lacking in quality songs. Kingwood erases those disappointments by rocking hard from start to finish with catchy-as-hell songs and Nikola's best lyrics yet. Obviously they're still Nikola's lyrics so they're going to be a bit goofy, but they're from the heart and I think they're his most personal yet (aside from his solo album maybe). There's a couple fast tunes that remind me of the good old days, but the midtempo songs are not lacking in energy either. All around it's a great effort and although I can't put it in the same class as For Monkeys or Life on a Plate (yet, anyway), it is an excellent album and I whole-heartedly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars another good album from Millencolin   April 28, 2005

This album is another pretty good attempt from millencolin. Like most of their albums, most if not all the songs are enjoyable to listen to and vary from fun songs to deep songs successfully

The track opens with 4 very decent songs, the second and third being very catchy with a pop punk hook that could entertain even the most elitist punk. These songs remind me of 'botanic mistress' where songs start off great and slowly peter out towards the end.

The only bad song on the album is track 9, im not sure what its trying to be, musically, but it sounds like a b side offspring reject.

Ray is another catchy song but with a weaker chorus. It falls down because the song tries to include too much attitude with the lyrics.

However the rest of the album doesnt fail to dissapoint. Millencolin, despite claiming theyve gone more punk than rock, have not left behind the greatness of songs like 'no cigar' and 'montego' for sellout punky songs. The songs at the end have genuine emotion and good lyrics, which hopefully will appeal to both punk and rock fans.
