| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Nelly's a smart guy. Not only does he have an acting role in The Longest Yard, but he also co-produced the movie's soundtrack and loaded it with tracks by himself and members of his Derrty Ent. stable including St. Lunatics' Ali, Goodie Mob's Gipp, Jung True (both solo and as a member of Taylor Made), King Jacob, and Prentiss Church. Fittingly for a movie in which we're meant to buy Adam Sandler as a former star quarterback, the music shows commercial instinct but ultimately lacks punch. Even a track like Ali & Gipp's "Let 'Em Fight," only reminds us how much harder Public Enemy hit 20 years ago (and we're not even talking lyrics but production here). Highlights include Murphy Lee, King Jacob, and Prentiss Church's "Stomp," which sounds appropriately bottom-heavy and sports cleverer than usual lyrics, and D12 featuring Eminem's "My Ballz," a goofball (sorry) of a song that actually grows catchier with each listen. The CD concludes with Nelly in his mellower mode, which should appeal to both fans of his 2004 R&B-inflected Suit, and women dragged to The Longest Yard by their boyfriends. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

I saw it lastnight with my wife, we loved it...great music...ok, go to amazon to buy it and wait, where are the songs from the movie...it a Nelly CD...(no dis to him) but I was looking for a variaty of songs...rock, rap, blues...not rap, rap, and um oh yeah, Rap... No Doubt...not on there Creedence Clearwater Revival...not on there AC/DC...not on there John Lee Hooker...Not on there Norman Greenbaum...nope Billy Squier...no...
I guess if you want the real soundtrack, you will have it piece it together yourself at I-tunes...

Where is AC/DC May 29, 2005 18 out of 23 found this review helpful
There is some great music in the movie. The CD does not include most of them.
No Rock Songs January 31, 2006 14 out of 17 found this review helpful
This album contains only rap and no rock songs. This was very disappointing to say the least.
These are not the songs from the movie November 6, 2005 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
When I saw this movie, I thought this is a soundtrack I got to have. I went out and bought it the next day. It took about 10 minutes for me to realize that I'd made a huge mistake. The soundtrack is not really a "soundtrack". I could hardly pick out the songs on the CD as being songs in the movie. I was really looking forward to the diverse mix of rock and hip-hop that was in the movie, but all that the soundtrack has is Nelly, Nelly, Nelly. Where's the other cool songs from the movie? My review is one star because they won't allow less than that!
