    Editorial Reviews:

    Amazon.com
Nelly's a smart guy. Not only does he have an acting role in The Longest Yard, but he also co-produced the movie's soundtrack and loaded it with tracks by himself and members of his Derrty Ent. stable including St. Lunatics' Ali, Goodie Mob's Gipp, Jung True (both solo and as a member of Taylor Made), King Jacob, and Prentiss Church. Fittingly for a movie in which we're meant to buy Adam Sandler as a former star quarterback, the music shows commercial instinct but ultimately lacks punch. Even a track like Ali & Gipp's "Let 'Em Fight," only reminds us how much harder Public Enemy hit 20 years ago (and we're not even talking lyrics but production here). Highlights include Murphy Lee, King Jacob, and Prentiss Church's "Stomp," which sounds appropriately bottom-heavy and sports cleverer than usual lyrics, and D12 featuring Eminem's "My B! allz," a goofball (sorry) of a song that actually grows catchier with each listen. The CD concludes with Nelly in his mellower mode, which should appeal to both fans of his 2004 R&B-inflected Suit, and women dragged to The Longest Yard by their boyfriends. --Elisabeth Vincentelli--this text refers to the explicit lyrics edition

    1 out of 5 stars What a disappointing purchase!   June 14, 2005

I saw the movie three times, and each time I marveled at the perfection of the movie soundtrack. The balance of old rock, country and hiphop was wonderful, and captured the emotion of each scene wonderfully. The movie was great, but the music was what really made it exciting! Searching for a way to relive the movie, I quickly went out to purchase the CD.

What a shame! I wish I could have saved my money for a future DVD release instead! How could anybody put this CD on the market? Dismayed by the tracks on this CD, I looked on Amazon.com to see if they had an alternate soundtrack available.

    Nothing!

Why would anyone in their right minds release this CD with only hiphop? I like hiphop, but only to a degree! If I want to buy a rap CD, I'll buy a rap CD, and only if that was my sole intention. When I bought this CD, I was expecting at least some or most of the music from the movie. Not only are there but a couple of songs from the movie, but the rest are only "inspired" by it. What kind of nonsense is that?

Now I wish I could return my purchase, but I can't because it's been opened.

PLEASE RELEASE A BETTER VERSION!!! Maybe then would I be able to stop pounding my fists in dramatic replay of the moment I realized my $14 had gone to utter waste!

1 out of 5 stars Where is all the music from the movie?????????????   June 11, 2005

The Movie had a wonderful mix of old time rock and rap. The official soundtrack has only a handful of the rap songs found on the movie and the rest are only inspired songs buy the movie. I lake Rap but this is only sub par. Don't buy it!!!!!!!!!!

I just saw this movie and it was great. The music played during the movie was awesome. I ran out and bought the soundtrack and it is horrible! None of the good songs in the movie are on the soundtrack. It is a total letdown.

    2 out of 5 stars if you're a classic rock fan, you'll be dissapointed...   June 3, 2005

I appreciated the rap/hip-hop in this movie even though it isn't what I normally would listen to. It is unfortunate that they didn't include some of the great classic rock songs because they were just as crucial as the rap songs in the attempt to capture the viewers. It's a shame that they couldn't have compiled a better variety, but the soundtrack is decent none the less.

5 out of 5 stars Loved It   August 16, 2005

This is one of the best rap/hip-hop CD I have heard in a while. Totally loved the range of artist. But, this is not all the music from the movie. So if you like rap/hip-hop it's for you. On the other hand, if your looking for all the cool music you heard in the movie this is not the mix you are looking for.
