Carrie's Found Her Roots June 14, 2005 M. D. (Boston, MA) 15 out of 17 found this review helpful
First of all, I'd like to say that the "American Idol" singles that the winners release are characteristically 'corny' and 'cheesy.' Having said that, I believe that "Inside Your Heaven" is the second best single released by a winner (right behind "I Believe").
There are some disappointing aspects of the single. For example, the single lacks the crowd-favorite "Angels Brought Me Here," the song that supposedly won Carrie the competition. Another complaint of mine is that "Independence Day" is on here, because the same exact track was on the "AI4 Showstoppers" CD. Despite these flaws, "Inside Your Heaven" is an amazing inspirational single that appeals to many different demographics of Carrie's fanbase.
1) Inside Your Heaven - 8/10 stars - IYH is a versatile song, as it will get airplay on every kind of radio station, including Pop/Mainstream, Adult Contemporary, Country, and Christian. Lyrics, though corny to some, are inspirational.
2) Independence Day - 7/10 stars - Great cover of Martina McBride's hit, Carrie is in her element on this track. May seem a little too much of the same thing, as Carrie has performed this song endlessly. But overall, very good.
Again, "Inside Your Heaven" is a must-have for any "Idol" fan. I also highly recommend these other "Idol" singles: "Dreams/Don't Cry Out Loud/I Believe" by Diana DeGarmo, "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson, and "Inside Your Heaven" by Bo Bice.
I can't wait to hear more from Carrie in the future June 14, 2005 Robert G Yokoyama (Mililani, Hawaii) 121 out of 159 found this review helpful
Carrie Underwood is a talented singer with a bright future ahead of her. The CD single gives listeners a glimpse of what to expect in the future from the newest star on the music scene. Independence Day is a great song that addresses the social issue of domestic violence. It is about the extreme measures a woman goes through to escape her abusive relationship. I think this country tune is perfect for Carrie's powerful voice. Inside Your Heaven is a typical pop love tune lyrically, but I think Carrie makes up for it by displaying her incredible vocal range on this song. She sounds great on this track in my opinion.
I actually, like it! June 27, 2005 ~danceprincess~ (V.A.) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
I was never a Carrie fan when she was on Idol but this isn't bad. The song, Inside your heaven, works alot better for her. She defently pulled it off.
I give a 4 our of 5 cause independce day, Again? I mean, she sounds good on it but she sung it on idol twice, on showstoppers, and now her single. I don't know how much she had to do with it but I think a different song would have been a benefit.
Who mixed this!!! July 5, 2005 B. Booth (Johannesburg, South Africa) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I have just received my copies of both Carrie's and Bo's singles in South Africa and I am so dissapointed. Focusing on Carrie's single I have to ask the question - What on earth went on in the heads of the producers?? Here we have one of the brightest talents to have entered the music industry in the last decade and she is given an unsingable song that is just plain poor and then the album is produced by Desmond Child who they tell me is quite the guru but I think he and all at RCA/BMG & 19 Recordings went deaf on both Carrie's and Bo's recordings. It sounds as if they are singing in a bathroom the reverb is so strong and the lack of clarity and crispness belies the fact that professional's were actually involved. This mixing is probably the most unprofessionbal piece of work I have ever encountered. Shame on you all!!! When Carrie records her full album what's the price on a duet with Rascal Flatts on Bless the Broken Road - Now that would be professional - the only reason I have given 3 stars is that I believe Carrie is way better than the shoddy management she has been subjected to.
Too Slicked Up July 25, 2005 G. B. Green (Hilton Head, SC) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
I'd rather hear pure Underwood without all the dominating mush in the background. Her voice is a clear as a bell; let her sing her songs her way and stop trying to "overslick" a genuine natural product. Fight, Carrie, for YOUR independence day.
