    Editorial Reviews:

    Amazon.com
Twins Brandon and Brian Casey, heart and soul of Jagged Edge, have got a good thing going: What artist wouldn't want to clone himself in the name of tight harmonies and flow that's DNA-deep? Jagged Edge, the brothers' fifth outing with bandmates Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo, finds them tight as ever, only in a slightly raunchier mood than we're accustomed to (were previous Jagged titles plastered with "EXPLICIT" stickers?). All the standard seductions expected of smooth R&B operators sit in a mid-disc, mid-tempo clump--"Get a Lil' Bit of This" begets the moaner that is "Crying Out," which begets the tender "Good Luck Charm"--and padding them on either side are a handful of songs on which the word "lovin'" could be rhymed with "hotter than an oven" interchangeably. "Watch You" paints a lusty post-shower scene, the title of "Baby Feel Me" is to be taken literally, and "A** Hypnotic" pretty much speaks for itself. The exception is "Season's Change," on which superstar John Legend guests. There, the vibe is "Ordinary People" and the vocals are a small miracle of give and take, besting even this disc's two likable Jermaine Dupri-produced tracks. Is there anything Legend--who's fast growing into his last name--can't class up? --Tammy La Gorce

    3 out of 5 stars It's alright.   May 18, 2006

For once I agree with the spotlight review..

I have been a Jagged Edge fan since the beginning, but it seems like they lose a little something with each album. I mean, this one is growing on me now, but the first time I listened to it, I was honestly thinking it might have been a waste of money. Here are my problems:

    1) Their songs would be SO much better if every time the chorus/hook came around, they didn't have the one guy (I don't know them by name) singing in the background over every dang hook. (Example: Hook is "she don't give a damn, she's so amazing.." and the guy goes SO amaaazziiiiing... amAAAAzziziiiiiing.... Whoaooaoaoaoaooohhhh.. oOAOoaaooaoaohhhh....) It's like, dude, we hear the hook without you deciding to oversing the two words that you like from it, over, and over again on every song. If they just took the hook and left it alone, without the extra layering of whats-his-name's voice, it would be SO much better.

    2) They used to be more heartfelt about their songs, there used to be more slow jams for the bedroom, etc.. NOW it seems like 9 out of 10 songs is about their drop top on the way to the club.. the whole thing is just too UP-TEMPO for me nowadays.

    3) They used to be halfway slow and dramatic, like R&B is supposed to be, but now every song they do has the same crappy drum beats. I REALLY WISH they could find a good person to produce their beats, I think that's been their biggest downfall in the past few years. Slow it down a little bit. R&B is not for driving your car down the highway, it's for the bedroom dangit.

I dunno, if you liked Hard a whole lot, you might like this one too, but if you liked their first couple albums the best, this is kinda like Hard but it goes even further downhill from where that album was taking their style.

I mean, I'm still a fan, but I paid good money for this CD and I think it sucks that I have to skip probably 9 out of 16 songs.

3 out of 5 stars Plain Average   May 21, 2006

As I started to play the 5th album from Jagged Edge, I was expecting to hear the classic, R&B Jagged Edge we all know and remember. But, as the songs kept going by and track after track I lacked to find standout tracks and tracks that were worth listening to. Don't get me wrong the album still has its strong points with tracks such as "Good Luck Charm" and "Watch You". "Good Luck Charm" is a great song and after hearing it I was expecting more of the ladder on the self-titled album, but didn't quite find what I was wanting to hear. Although with the track "Baby Feel Me", I found that JE music I had been expecting. "Baby Feel Me" is a great smooth track that any R&B fan will enjoy. "Hopefully" also provides that soulful JE music and also is a great track. The "Reggaeton" appeal track "So Amazing (Feat. Voltio)" is a nice uptempo club type of track that will grow on you for the most part. Overall, the album is just plain average, with a standout track here or there, but for me most of the album is skippable. For the most part, it wouldn't be a "risk" buying this, so go out and buy it and support the veterans of R&B.

    Favorite Tracks:
    1. Good Luck Charm
    2. Baby Feel Me
    3. Watch You
    4. Hopefully

2 out of 5 stars Falls Short..   September 6, 2006

Unfortunately Jagged Edge didn't come hard on this album. This is the worst album of the bunch. The lead singer has a voice that sticks out and most of the songs on this album don't express that. He has the voice to sing more powerful songs. Another thing is the topics on their songs seem to be juvenile. The continue to talk about getting girls cause they're pimps. I think its time these grown men now realize their older and sing songs that mean something.

    MAN I LOVE THIS ALBUM
I SUGGEST IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS TO BUY IT
    YOU WON'T BE DISSAPOINTED
THIS IS WHAT MUSIC IS ALL ABOUT
THE WHOLE ALBUM YOU CAN LISTEN TO OVER AND OVER AGAIN
THE ONLY SONG THAT I DON'T LIKE IS SO AMAZING
THAT IS THE SONG YOU CAN SKIP

4 out of 5 stars Better Than Latest Two   July 3, 2006

Like a lot of reviewers, I have been a fan of JE since I heard their debut. I love the twins' vocals and talents. This is their 5th album, it's good, but not the best of course. They still hold hot and tight beats very well, but I think we need some more changes, such as a few of romantic ballads...

Better than their 3th and 4th album, maybe it's a nu beginning,C'mon JE...
