Melodic Black Metal with Death Metal influences is how this release can be best described as. It is a very atmospheric record, but the atmosphere itself doesn't eclipse the vigorousness of the music. While the guitars play the role as the main carriers of a song, the keyboards are up there most of the time as well maintaining an equilibrium and adding serene segments that sound beautifully majestic. The album is divided in four parts and there's 16 songs in total, some of them being short ambient instrumental interludes that serve as bridges between the heavier compositions. The orchestrated fantasy-like pieces are one of the best features about this album, but that's because I'm a big fan of the older Satyricon/Bal-Sagoth epic scores that characterized their older albums. Expect a nice blend of harmless black metal with lots of melody. If you're into the above elements I described you will be pleased by what these guys are offering. If extreme brutality and over the top speed is what you're looking for, search elsewhere.
