Incredible August 12, 2006 A. M. Lewis 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
Let me just tell you that as a stubborn fan of the second great punk movement (NOFX, Bad Religion etc.) it's extremely difficult to get me into any of today's popular "punk", "Emo" "Emocore" etc. bands. Thursday and Taking Back Sunday type bands just don't do it for me. However, my friends feel differently so I'm often forced to listen to it. So one day my buddy put on Bayside. I was immediately hooked. The band is awesome, and this album is truly amazing from start to finish. There is no screaming on this album, just melodic singing that can easily be enjoyed by all. Throw in some sick guitar work and you've got yourself a classic album for the genre. Favorite songs: "Devotion and Desire", "Montauk", "Existing in Crisis" and "Half a Life". Truthfully, there are no bad songs.
Blame it on bad luck...R.I.P. December 21, 2005 Joshhhh (U.S.A.) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I first heard about this band when the drummer John "Beatz" Holohan died on Halloween. I decided to grab the CD because i noticed that Devotion and Desire was a VERY good song. I only wished i had known about them sooner. This CD has many highpoints and is not repetitive(which seems to be a problem in some CDs). When you first listen to the Cd, you start thinking that its o.k. but then it grows on you. And suddenly, your hooked. The CD starts with a nice short starter that actually is very good. High Points: -Devotion and Desire -Tortures of the Damned -Montauk -Blame it on Bad Luck -We'll be O.K. -Excisting in a crisis (Evelyn) -Dear Tragedy Low Point -Don't Call Me Peanut Overall, this CD is definitely deserves a listening.
Great CD October 18, 2005 Tim __Miller (Ann Arbor, MI) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is one of the better emo CDs that i've heard in a while. I wouldn't be surprised to this band take over top billings on some of teh bigger victory tours that will be forthcomming. They have a very unique sound mainly due to the lead vocals of Anthony Raneri. He has a great delivery and an original voice. Also the lead guitarist Jack O'Shea has some awesome solo's on the CD. I also got a chance to see these guys recently in concert preforming tracks form this CD and they absolutly killed it, they got a call-back. My favorite songs on this Cd would have to be "They Look Like Strong Hands", "Devotion and Desire" and "We'll Be Ok". If you liked them before you like them even more. If your just into the emo scene this is a great addition.

this cd is unbelievable...i picked it up when i had ordered tickets for a hawthorne heigthts and i had seen the other bands and Bayside was one of them..not having any clue who they were..i bought there cd and i can listen to every song without it getting old... theres something about the lead singers voice taht doesnt seem repetitiive like other bands in this genre..and the guitar is great... Standout Songs- Devotion and Desire Tortures of The Damned They Look like Strong Hands Dont Call me Peanut Blame it on Bad Luck and also if you get a chance to see the "never sleep again tour" then go because it was awesome...especialy the emotional Bayside performance
New to the band December 5, 2005 Ichy (NY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Ok, I was reading a thread on another site about downloads. Someone recomended "Devotion And Desire". So I downloaded and was hooked. "How could I know that everything you say are lies about devotion and desire?" is just one of the great lines of this song. So, I picked up the CD. I was impressed. It's not scream-in-your-face-I-wanna-cut-myself like alot of other music now. It's passion and fire rolled into one. The songs are great and well written. Guitar rifs are good as well. Some songs do stand out more than others, like 'Devotion and Desire' and 'Tortures of the Damned'. Some of my favorites include: -'Dear Tradgedy' -'Existing in Crisis(Evelyn' -'We'll Be O.K.' -'Blame It On Bad Luck' I recomed this Cd for those who want a change from what's really mainstream.
