5 out of 5 stars Get's Me In The Zone!!!   November 23, 2003

Britney sounds fantastic on this new sound. Me Against the Music is a classic urban house hiphop club song kinda thing. All the clubs I've been to play it or some remix of it and people are shaking their butts to it. It sounds great blasting out of my Benz too. The beats on this song are tremendous and though its a little crowded with Madonna and background singers, Me Against The Music is a great club anthem and really shows that Britney does have talent. And hey, its not even one of the best tracks on In The Zone...sop go out and buy the album cause it fits the who;le club thing too!! Madonna is a great addition to this song but again the vocals and production make for a kind of crowded song but hey its Britney and everything she does works! Rock on! LATE!

Both the cd-single and the album are really great, and there are way better tracks on te album and this is one of the best tracks on the album aswell as the video, and to tell you the truth the Rishi Rich's Desi Kulcha Remix is better than the original because the beat is better, and the remix is extended (4:29) so get both the cd-single and the album both great!

4 out of 5 stars A good first attempt at growing up   January 25, 2004

Oh dear, am I the only person who actually likes this song? I'll be honest; I wasn't expecting too, Britney Spears has often reminded me of a plastic Barbie doll, all assets and no talent.

However after hearing this song and watching the video I found that I had changed my mind, the song is clever and well sung. It also has a great beat, and the combination of rap, and mellow lyrics have me tapping my foot to it whenever I hear it on the radio.

I wouldn't say it's the sort of song you'd have playing all the time in the dance clubs but its great background music and therefore something different from some of the dross we are subjected to every day.

Madonna gives it a real added boost, the young with the experienced, both strutting their stuff and doing a pretty good job of it.

Britney is growing up and doing it her way. She might make mistakes along the way but at least she has proven she can sing and dance with the best of them and in the back stabbing, harsh uncompromising world of the Music Industry that is a pretty good feat...

3 out of 5 stars I'd Rather Watch Them Kiss than Record Tepid Songs   January 13, 2004

How can a song featuring the seemingly invincible team of Madonna and Britney Spears only reach #35 on the Top 100? Simple - it's not a very good song. The song originally was recorded solo by Britney for her "In the Zone" CD. When Madonna decided to collaborate, Britney sent her the song to overlay her vocals. Perhaps as a result, the song is overly busy and quite forgettable - completely lacking a memorable hook or chorus.

The original (video) version is included here alongside 3 remixes. I admit that I bought this CD as a Madonna fan, and I do not like Britney much. Therefore, it's probably not surprising that my favorite part of the original song is when Madonna coos seductively - "Hey Britney, you say you wanna lose control. Come over her I got something to show you."

The Rishi Rich's Desi Kutcha Remix adds an exotic Middle-Eastern flair to the song, which is quite successful. The Peter Rauhofer radio mix is very similar to the original - too much so. The Mad Brit Mixshow is a mostly instrumental version that highlights a few choice sections of the song. Overall, "Me Against the Music" and its 3 remixes are rather disappointing, and I think that this CD will appeal primarily to hardcore Madonna or Britney fans.

4 out of 5 stars Not the greatest song to start off an album with   December 3, 2003

Britney could have had her pick of songs from her 4th album - but she chose this one. It's a good song, but maybe as the second single off the album. Not the first. This single has been released in a blaze of publicity - not even "Baby One Time" could surpass the amount of publicity this has had. It started with Britney's now infamous kiss with Madonna at the MTV awards, and now their best buddies. But back to the song. I think Madonna drowns out Britney during this. Her voice comes through a lot more clearly than Britney's, and you'd be forgiven for thinking that it was Madonna feat. Britney, not vice versa! Madonna plays too big a part to be just featuring on the record. I've seen Britney perform (mime) this song on UK TV, and its missing something with Madonna performing beside her - Britney hardly sings and it shows. I've hard some tracks from the album, and they're very similar to this, except for "Breathe" - that sounds great.

A good song, but if I'd been Britney, I would have chosen another song instead of this one. Not a good choice.
