5 out of 5 stars Disco music meets nineties dance music   November 23, 2005

"Hung Up" is not just the first single of Madonna's 2005 album, "Confessions On a Dance Floor". It also opens up a new period for her music, one where she's going back to before she started making music, blending in a disco-like sound with bits and pieces from her "Ray of Light" period. "Hung Up" starts off with samples from ABBA's "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" to jump full fledge into a track that you simply will not be able to sit still through. You will easily find yourself (specially if you are an eighties child) tapping your foot to it for starters, and getting up and dancing without caring as it hits the chorus, "Every little thing that you say or do, I'm hung up. I'm hung up on you."

5 out of 5 stars It accomplishes it's objective remarkably   November 14, 2005

The premise for the new album and single was just to make you dance all night long and "Hung Up" is THE perfect song for that. The lyrics are a no-brainer, but they were never ment to, if you want developed writing from Madonna look for "Bedtime Stories, "Erotica", "Ray of Light" and "American Life".

It samples ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight)", this sample can be easily percieved on the song and has a very positive nostalgic effect but, Madonna and producer Stuart Prices (Jacques Le Cont) also made this sample their own, adding a unique flavor to the song. It's a VERY catchy song but at the same time it doesn't feels like "chewing bubble gum".

Make no mistake, this IS Madonna at her best.

    5 out of 5 stars Ring, Ring, Ring.....Dance   November 22, 2005

First, let me say you should buy "Confessions On A Dance Floor" because it is definately one of Madonna's all-time best!

Now, for the "Hung Up" remixes, they're excellent. The SDP Extended Vocal mix is one of the best remixes ever done. It takes the original and doesn't mess it up. Remember, "Hung Up" is already a dance song that's great for the clubs so there is no reason to over mix it.

I love the fact that Madonna uses so many different remixers and doesn't just stick with one for every song. That's the case here with her using remixers Chus & Ceballos from Spain. There take on the song is almost early 90's feeling. It's a nice breath of fresh air!

The only dissapointment is the Tracy Young mix, which is only a radio edit, it just leaves you wanting more (maybe that's what Madonna intended). I wish it was the full extended mix but keep your fingers crossed and maybe it will be released on a future maxi single.

Don't forget about "Confessions On A Dance Floor", you won't regret it!

5 out of 5 stars Madonna is back on the dance floor......YES.   November 19, 2005

To start "Hung Up" is a totally hot song with 70's ABBA as background. This song is so dance music. Anyone who listened to Madonna in the early years in the 80's will appreciate this album. We get to finally hear new music from Madonna that sounds and feels like that familiar 80's sound with a touch of today. Good job Madonna !! Your have given your faithful fans what they have always loved. Dance music sung by Madonna....welcome back to the dance floor.

Hung Up is a catchy and the sound engineering is excellent. This is a fun song that isn't controversial or political or serious or sexual in theme. It's nice 2 know she is still around after everyone doubted here as having no talent from critics, consumers, and other musical artists. I remember Whitney Houston trashing Madonna so bad as having no talent and a sex deviant. Hello Madonna writes all her songs and Whitney doesn't. A Whitney can't dance and let alone sing live. Whitney just stands there and still can't sing live. The Bodyguard was her most successful album and all the songs on it were cover songs from other artists. I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton not Whitney's. I guess Madonna is geting the last laugh and that crackhead Whitney is finally hushing her mouth. And Whitney has no respect for fans. I'm sorry but anyone who doesn't write their own songs is a studio creation and Whitney is one of them.
And it's nice to know Madonna is still up to par with all the laden laced MTV rap hip hop 50 cent, Eminem, Ludacris, Kanye West ghetto artists. I'm not into rap but i respect them. But i hate when rappers always trashing pop and rock and country music when they become competition. At least all these genre artists can sing. And for all consumers who listen to rap, good for you but don't call someone a freak, wierdo, a loser, a fagg*t, if people don't listen to the genre.
