    Editorial Reviews:

Amerie's 2002 debut, All I Have, found tough guys and urban sophisticates alike tangled up in the question of "Why Don't We Fall in Love?" It spawned a collaboration with Nas, and ignited a cult of cool around black-Korean culture. With her exotic looks and draw-the-shades sound, the smoky-eyed chanteuse came by her frothy fan base fairly. With Touch she pulls through for a second exercise in sultry, solid sound. Two tracks on this disc grab hold instantly: "1 Thing" forges its way from an R&B-spiked pop place into rockier territory, and "Touch" taunts Amerie's more amorous disciples with an expert sexiness. Tucked in are Whitney Houston-esque pop pleasers and a collaboration with Carl Thomas, "Can We Go," that feels friendly and unforced; other songs hint at a Mary J. Blige influence that will serve Amerie well as she struts her way toward serious musician status. --Tammy La Gorce

4 out of 5 stars Get in "Touch."   December 20, 2005

Look no further: the party jam of 2005 is here. Amerie's Top Ten single "1 Thing" has it all: a killer guitar hook, an infectious drum beat, and a groove so tight, you could bounce a quarter off it and still get change. Produced by Rich Harrison (who also produced the bulk of this album), "1 Thing" is the dance pop confection that Jennifer Lopez's "Get Right" (also produced by Harrison) should have been but wasn't. The rest of "Touch," Amerie's first album since her 2002 debut, doesn't approach the greatness of that single, but a few other r&b-flavored cuts come close. She gets her crunk on with a little help from Lil' Jon, who produces the Middle-Eastern-laced title track, while "Come With Me" and "Talkin' About" pass the time nicely. "Touch" doesn't break any new ground, but then again, it doesn't need to. It's just a good record with a bit of substance behind the groove.

4 out of 5 stars Impressive and Enjoyable.   December 27, 2005

Amerie is back and better than ever. On this album, Touch, she decides to expand her producer list, but the majority is still produced by Rich Harisson, the best producer on the scene now. Harisson's beats are so infectious and catchy, especially on this CD. Songs like "1 Thing" and "Talkin' About" really showcase his talent and oushine tracks from her last album by far. Amerie's voice is not the best, but she really works with what she has and gives it her all, especially on "1 Thing."

There are one or two tracks this album could've done without, but otherwise this is one of the best CDs released this year.

5 out of 5 stars Great Album!   March 4, 2007

Okay first BOO!!! to the record company for tainting my disc with stupid soft-ware to prevent people from copying it on the computer. If you can get this album without the soft-ware (which made it on most "what were they thinking?" soft-ware lists) then please do.

This album is fun, sexy, energetic, and classy. "1 Thing" is the best go-go R&B track released since Beyonce's "Crazy in Love". Amerie's voice fit the song becoming an instrument to complement Rich Harrison's rich production. My favorite songs are "Can We Go" and "Tears Rolling Down My Face". What makes these songs work is that Amerie knows her limitations and doesn't try to go where she has no business going. The production complements her voice, so you don't get a sense of Amerie singing songs that really are out of her range. I'm not saying she can't sing. She has a real lovely voice (Listen to "Tears Rolling..." and past tracks like "Talkin' to Me" to hear for yourself) but she does what really works for her like "1 Thing". I gave the album 5 stars because it's consistent and really sounds better through repeated listens. The production is also more varied and jazzy than her debut album (which is really good too).

    Best Tracks:

"Can We Go" (That Earth, Wind, and Fire sample!)
"Tears Rolling Down My Face" (The horns!)
"1 Thing" that got me trippin' (Love the chorus!)
"Like it Used to Be" (Listen to the instrumentation during the chorus)

This is a great album. The production is excellent and every track is at least good. This is definitely one of those ones that you can listen to start to finish. Amerie is not the best vocalist, but she works with what she has. The album overall is very upbeat, go-go type of stuff. It is fun and enjoyable. The songs are very catchy, too. I would definitely recommend adding this album to your collection.

AMERIE IS A UNIQUE SINGER, WHICH SHE SHOWS ON THIS CD. HER STYLE OF MUSIC IN THIS CD IS VERY OLD SCHOOL 80'S FLAVA STYLE TO IT. ALL THE TRACKS ARE LIKEABLE AND OK TO LISTEN TO.

    MY FAVORITE TRACKS :

ONE THING - AWESOME SONG. THIS WAS A GOOD SINGLE FOR HER.

NOT THE ONLY ONE - ANOTHER FAVORITE SONG OF MINE. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SINGLE.

COME WITH ME - ALSO SHOULD HAVE BEEN A SINGLE. HAS AWESOME BEATS.

TALKIN ABOUT - KINDA SOUNDS LIKE ONE THING.

JUST LIKE ME- A BEAUTIFUL BALLAD. THIS IS MY FAVORITE TRACK ON THIS ALBUM. HER VOICE SOUNDS SOOTHING. THIS SONG SHOULD ALSO HAVE BEEN A SINGLE.

THE OTHER SONGS ON THIS ALBUM R OK, BUT THESE WERE THE SONGS THAT STAND OUT MORE THAN THE OTHERS.I HOPE ON HER NEXT ALBUM SHE HAS MORE DANCEABLE SONGS LIKE ON HER SINGLE ONE THING.
