Disc 1 of a 3-disc set, also includes the 3-disc packaging September 9, 2006 Steven Tannehill (Texas, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Talk, Pt. 1, an import from Holland on the Parlophone label, includes the first of three CD singles and a nice tri-fold digipak where you can put Talk, Pt. 2 and Talk, Pt. 3. As others have said, this is the first disc only. Getting the remaining discs depends largely on your desire to be a completionist, or for your interest in live tracks. The breakdown of the three discs is as follows: Part 1: (Amazon AISN B000CNGG9Y) 1. Talk (Radio Edit) 2. Swallowed in the Sea (Live in Holland) 3. God Put A Smile Upon You Face (Live in Holland) Part 2: (Amazon AISN B000CNGGA8) 1. Talk (Album Version) 2. Square One (Live in Holland) 3. Clocks (Live in Holland) Part 3: (Amazon AISN B000CNGGAI) 1. Talk (Live in Holland) 2. Til Kingdom Come (Live in Holland) 3. Fix You (Live in Holland) Part 1 only warrants a three-star rating from me because it includes the Radio Edit of Talk. But the live tracks are good. Part 2 goes up to four stars because it includes the album version of Talk, and an excellent live rendition of Square One from X&Y. Part 3 also warrants four stars for the live tracks from X&Y, great performances all. Note that these discs have WMA copy protection. If you would like to extract tracks for your MP3 player or iPod, you will need to use a Mac to do so. By the way, parts 2 and 3 come in shrinkwrapped sleeves. This is one more reason to get part 1 and the nice tri-fold digipak.
Nevermind, I was wrong. Only #1 included. February 14, 2006 Benny Hill (NYC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
BTW, get the other version with Gravity. Chris Martin wrote it then gave it to his friend Danny McNamara of Embrace. Good song. Now we finally get to hear how Chris sings it.
Um... December 18, 2007 Adrian the Complex Lonely (USA) Well, I came in here to talk GOOD about Talk because it's a very solid track. However, then after clicking on the "Talk Pt. 1" cover art, I saw Swallowed By The Sea which is my second least favorite track and went, "Ugh." Finally, I saw God Put A Smile On Your Face and thought, "Meh." It was OK, but nothing great. Still better than SBTS though. So, *Sigh*, here goes: Talk --- 4 stars. Swallowed By The Sea --- 3 stars. Something about it irks at my deepest chord. God Put A Smile Upon Your Face --- 3.5 stars. Cover Art: C- (It looks sloppy, lop-sided and tacked on and tacky compared to the odd, yet appropriate U.S. album cover art.) Inside Art: ? Songwriting: C+ Vocals: C+ Vocal Emotion: B+ Vocal Acrobatics: F+ Length: A 10.5/3 = 3.5 3.5 stars. Overall: C
Talk Pt. 1 DOES include 3 discs! February 14, 2006 Benny Hill (NYC) The first reviewer wrote that Talk Pt. 1 doesn't include 3CDs (parts 1-3) as he thought, but mine does. I ordered all three parts separately, but now I have two extra discs (2,3) that I don't need. I hope there's a way around the copy protection.
Read closely, only one of the three CD's isincluded February 8, 2006 David Harris (Boston,MA) I bought this thinking that all 3 CD's were included but found that only the first CD is (should have read the packaging closer). Since I live under a rock and really haven't followed Coldplay until I heard Talk, (of which the music was lifted from Kraftwerk's Computer Liebe/Computer Love) I can't comment much on the two live songs. I did like them though. My biggest disappointment is the copy protection. I, unlike most of the Apple illuminati, do not own an Ipoop. Since they chose to use WMA encryption, you can forget about putting any of these tracks on your MP3 player (at least not without some underhanded software). These people with their copy protection really need to stop. The only people they are hurting are the honest consumer who now cannot duplicate something they own. The pirates haven't even slowed down. Corporations build a better mousetrap, the pirates build a better mouse. Anywho, to get back to the review, beware that only the first CD is included in the pack. Since this version of Talk is the short version, unless you are a diehard fan, buy CD3 for the live version of Talk. Also, unless you own an Ipooped, dig your CD player out of the closet if you plan to take this music with you...
