Real R&B singers needed April 29, 2006 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
(Yes, like the flyer says at Bobby Valentino's debut album) Lloyd and Ray J, you'd better WATCH OUT! (Specially you Lloyd), because Chris Brown has came to stay and stronger than you! hahahahaha!. I love his voice, it sounds like a mix between Michael Jackson and Usher and he's a real singer. (These kinda singers are fewer everytime) This album has shown the world that he's pure voice and it has everything he's made of. He's not the future of R&B, but he's helping to save it. You have to buy this album, if you'd like to listen to a more-real R&B. INTRO RUN IT! Featuring Juelz Santana +5/5 Amazing. It sounds like Usher's "Yeah!" but better YO (Excuse me Miss) 3/5 The music's good, but lyrics aren't so YOUNG LOVE 4/5 Decent song, at first I thought it would contain samples of Mariah's "Underneath the Stars" but it hasn't GIMME THAT 3/5 Amazing YA MAN AIN'T ME 4/5 I love music at this one, but lyrics are weak WINNER 5/5 Cheering-up song AIN'T NO WAY (You Won't Love Me) +5/5 Best song of the album WHAT'S MY NAME Featuring Noah 5/5 Amazing IS THIS LOVE? +5/5 Second best song, with a notable 90's vibe POPPIN' 5/5 Cool JUST FINE +5/5 Third outstanding song, I love it's lyrics and music SAY GOODBYE +5/5 The classic ballad that completes these kinda R&B Albums RUN IT! Remix, Featuring Bow Wow & Jermaine Dupri +5/5 This is the one for the radio, when I first heard this, I thought it was Michael Jackson, but I discovered it was Chris, so I bought the album SO GLAD* +5/5 Import bonus track. Samples The Jackson5's "It's great to be there", but in a different way. THANK YOU 3/5 A closing song for this adventure, it has a cool message, but it bores me.
Please note that for this edition the only differences are the cover photo and the bonus track, this is a collector's item. You can watch also for the CD/DVD Combo. (Same as DualDisc)
In Need Of Parental Supervision September 10, 2006 7 out of 12 found this review helpful
This would be a fairly good album by today's standards from a very talented young man, were it not poisoned by one thing; this young 16 going on 25-year-old's potty mouth.
I could not be less impressed by 99.99% of swearing in one SINGLE SONG! Where in the Sam Hill was his mother when he was recording it? Is she proud?
Call me 25 going on 90 if you wish, but I think it's unacceptable for this boy to be releasing records like that, and grinding on young girls in videos at his age. I'm not stupid, I'm fully aware that there are kids WITH kids younger than him - but that doesn't mean it should be encouraged or condoned. My views might be out of the ordinary but I firmly believe that musical culture - and the media in general - need to quit stamping out the rite of passage that is childhood and reinforcing the notion that it's okay for babies to go from the womb to the bedroom, not necessarily stopping off for birth control en route.
Anywhoo the point is his foul-mouthed, much-too-adult, behaviour spoiled this generally good album for me. It would have been more than enjoyable for an adult offering.

Pleasant. November 23, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Excuse Me Miss, Run It, Say Goodbye, Poppin' and Ain't No Way (You Won't Love Me) are the standouts.
Thank You and Run It (Remix) are stupid crappy songs and should have stopped filling the disc with pointless drivel.
Anyway, this CD is decent fun. It is primarily Hip-Hop and R&B-fused production and there are some ballads present.
Chris is a decent singer but now he needs to start writing some of his hits. He will be big in the future though. Just wait and see!
So Glad is a bonus track.
3.5 stars.
