Gothic Rock with a hard edgeMarch 11, 2009 Some Kind of Stranger(Gloucester, UK) "Exposure" has been my favorite Love Like Blood album for a long time. Up until this point, the band rarely stepped outside the boundaries of Fields of the Nephilim and Sisters of Mercy worship, but here they really turn up the distortion and rip off the volume control. Gothic Rock is often gloomy and depressive, but so rarely does it... well, rock. And Love Like Blood succeed in that completely. It's almost a missing link between gothic rock and gothic rock-influenced gothic metal (it's a terrible label, I know, but it's hard to describe any other way) bands like Paradise Lost and Type O Negative.
