Paris Hilton's debut single "Stars are Blind" July 31, 2006 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
Paris Hilton, the spoiled Heiress/Actress/TV personality/porn star has decided to enter the music business and fall flat on her face yet again in an attempt to make the whole world revolve around her. It's pathetic and an all time low for her. She tries to be all "professional" and run with the BIG dogs (I guess she got tired of Chihuahuas and ferrets), but instead she makes a complete fool of herself. She over sings to try and sound like Gwen Stefani, but ends up sounding like a try-too-hard copycat. Maybe she doesn't sound TERRIBLE, but her voice is obviously mediocre. The song itself is tolerable at the most and could have potential if done by someone with more talent and range. But Paris doesn't exactly pull it off, she sounds like she's swooning throughout the whole song. It just proves that anyone can get a record deal with the right team behind them (and the right amount of their daddy's money). She clearly has barely any range from what I can hear in this song. If I listen to another one of her songs and hear a little more talent in it than maybe my opinion will change. But right now she just seems like a spoiled brat who's doing anything and everything just because she can. Not because she has any special talent, nor is it because she has big dreams. She hasn't earned this, she hasn't paid any dues, and no, I'm not talking about money. Money doesn't buy happiness or dreams and it most certainly doesn't buy talent. You earn all this with hard work and determination. Something Paris doesn't seem to be capable of and if she is she sure doesn't do it all that often from what I can tell. The material ("poop" as many people call it) that she is trying to sing has absolutely no depth or meaning and it is a reflection of just how shallow she is, but then again, who am I to judge. This is about Paris's talent (or lack there of), not her personality (as terrible as it may be, or seem to be according to the media, magazines, and sex tapes). I gave this song an unbiased listen so that I could give it a chance. I think that Paris obviously has enough talent to not sound completely terrible when given the right song. I guess I could give her credit for that, but I'm still not totally sure if she can even carry a tune outside the studio (hmm.. wonder if she has a tour planned). As of right now, she just comes across as a spoiled heiress who is trying to make everyone who loves her love her even more, and everyone who hates her have an oh so sudden change of heart so that they can worship the ground she walks on. It's a pity that a song with so much potential was wasted on her.
Stolen music from Hollywoods #1 fraud August 12, 2006 5 out of 7 found this review helpful
The music from this song is stolen bar by bar from UB40's Kingston Town. All they did was drop on new lyrics and add a chorus. But it is a complete rip off of UB40. Nothing about this girl is original.
Please go away.... August 3, 2006 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
I find her voice.... annoying... and when I heard it on the radio, it was almost enough to make me run off the road. She has now shown us that she can do everything in the world.... unless it involves tallent. She should stick with "The Simple Life". At least there, it was AMUSING to act like an idiot.
Not a bad first song for Paris, really!! August 11, 2006 4 out of 9 found this review helpful
I didn't know what to think when the radio said "...here's the first single from Paris Hilton...", but I listend and liked it. Granted she's no Madonna or Whitney Houston, but it's pretty good! The beat makes you wanna dance and it's pretty laid back with its reggae-esque sound.
To all you people who are whining and complaining because it's Paris Hilton, just shut up! She has as much right as everyone else to make a record. You're probably just jealous because you're a bloated former highschool football player that can't even get a skank to look at you. PWNT.
...... lost for words August 22, 2006 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I wanted to like this. Really I did. Let's face it. The girl has balls, for which she has my unerring respect.... but there is a limit.... the limit is... know your limitations. Her greatest talent is self promotion. Look at the absurb, the crass and the benign and you have 'Paris'.... her latest offering obliterates all sense of style or taste, dragging American popular culture into an all time low. Please Paris, stick to the home videos.... that was sort of your niche....
