Amazon.com While much has been made of former model Cassie's leap into the R&B ring--the vampy, MySpace-fueled first single "Me & U" topped more than a few best-of-summer lists--almost as much has been made of the wispiness of her voice. But what those who have stopped straddling the fence know is that the pillow-lipped beauty makes up for what she lacks in vocal power with an abundance of less obvious musical proficiencies: Cassie's a master of sass, a guru of guile. Hear it not only on the mildly menacing and seriously thrilling "Me & U," but also on "Long Way 2 Go," a merciless tease aimed at an amorous man who really ought to have known better. The rest of this brief disc bumps along on the greatness of its beats. Master blaster and producer Ryan Leslie (also Cassie's beau, it's rumored) strings together a minicourse on sampling as he slyly dips from old-school jazz to disco to vintage flamenco. Credit Cassie, though, for concocting a whole lotta 'tude. R&B has a whispery new minx. -Tammy La Gorce
Album Description Everyone loves a Cinderella story. In 2006, the glass slipper belongs to Cassie, thanks to her smash debut single "Me & U". Just like the single, her debut album Cassie is infectious, seductive, and deep.
Album Description Limited Edition Japanese pressing of this 2006 debut release from the R&B vixen featuring two bonus tracks: 'When Your Body Is Talking' and 'Me & U' (Remix Featuring P.Diddy and Yung Joc). Bad Boy.

Seriously... August 9, 2006 Pamela Rojas (Miami, FL USA) 15 out of 18 found this review helpful
Am I the only one that thinks she's is awful?? I mean, don't get me wrong... she's beautiful. Hands down. But... singing??!?!?! Honestly... I think Jennifer Lopez is singing in praise now that she has found SOMEONE that sings worse than her. I mean, if Cassie can make it... ANYONE can make it. Me & U is a good song... and I liked Ditto (even though it sounds like a 12 year old's lullaby) and the hook to 'Miss Your Touch' is nice... the rest of it was just not good. The beats cover up her voice (or lack-there of) enough... but still. Were is the real talent these days? The only good things I have to say about her is she's gorgeous, she has some good producers... Ryan Leslie is a genious and he was smart enough to play it nice and safe. A bunch of less than decent, lyrically simple, easily catchy songs that every 13 year old will LOVE. Cassie will be loved for about 2 more songs... and we will realize how terrible she is, and then we will move on to real artists... such as Christina Aguilera (whom's new album is AMAZING)
Encouraging and enjoyable debut from a promising artist.. August 8, 2006 A. G. Corwin (St. Louis, MO) 26 out of 34 found this review helpful
Tommy Mottola has a unique gift for finding new artists. 19-year old Connecticut native Cassie is the latest addition to Mottola's hit list. Her self-titled debut album, released on P-Diddy's Bad Boy label and produced by Ryan Leslie, is a slick sounding, well produced slice of goodness that makes a nice addition to your collection. Straight off, "Me & U" shows why this song is racing up the Billboard charts, with Cassie's breathy vocals layered over a head bobbing melody. "Long Way 2 Go" is an amazing track and the next big single, with hints of trance, R&B, spoken word jazz, and rap fused with sexy lyrics in an addictive mix. Cassie makes getting dumped sound pretty good in the solid track "About Time" , but falters a bit with the formulaic tracks "Kiss Me", "Call U Out", and "Just One Nite." The enjoyable "Hope You're Behaving (interlude)" has an acoustic guitar melody that evokes classic Spanish folk guitar. "Ditto" is a mediocre filler track, but "What Do U Want" has the blend of musical styles that sounds great in the club. The closing track "Miss Your Touch" is propelled by a disco-era fat toned bass guitar line supporting an addictive beat that will get your body moving. This is a short album with a running time just over 35 minutes, not at all unusual for a debut artist. Despite the youthful lyrics and juvenile song titles, Leslie's beats and samples are creative and his production slick. The album's sounds are a throwback to an earlier era, freeing Cassie from the formulaic sounds of today's artists. Cassie could use some time to strengthen her young, thin voice, and would be well advised to add some songwriters besides Leslie to give her next album the length and depth she deserves. As debuts go, this is a good one. We will be hearing big things from this young ingenue in the future. Recommended. A.G. Corwin St Louis, MO
The New Bad Girl? August 16, 2006 Charli V. (Houston, TX) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Cassie's album is as catchy as a clever slogan. It's pretty short and when it's a new artist, it's best kept that way. The lyrics are puerile, but reflect the person who's singing them- a little girl. But it's as cute as Cassie's little face. "Me and You", although simple, has a beat I like hearing when I'm at the club. I am worried about her being on the Bad Boy label, however. They've been in quite the slump and I think it's due to "Bad Business". I don't trust Bad Boy. Every artist who had the unfortunate opportunity of landing on this label has had some "Bad" luck to say the least. She'd better move on and quickly. Otherwise, it's 15 minutes of fame and some bad publicity for Cassie. Who knows? Maybe even a little jail time. Just ask Jennifer Lopez, Lil' Kim, and Shyne. I say get out while the gettin' is good.
Bad voice August 14, 2006 Victoria (houston) 10 out of 12 found this review helpful
Her voice is bad, I heard her cd because my friend has it and she talks her way through every single song. It just goes to show you, you can have a pretty face and no voice and still be able to come out with a cd. I feel sorry for people who can actually sing and there not able to get a chance to go far. I could have sung that song Me & U and I seen her performance on Bet and I couldnt believe how horrible her voice was and she had the nerve to have back up singers to help her with the song.
The girl cant sing .Case closed. September 19, 2006 Carmel'sDaughter (NY) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
