Amazon.com Though fans shouldn't mistake this various-artists soundtrack for the next Toby Keith album, the music for Keith's star-turn film (also featuring Kelly Preston, Burt Reynolds, and Willie Nelson) builds from reflective balladry to unbridled, triumphant rock. It may be hard to separate the thematic sequencing from the movie it accompanies, but the soundtrack itself tells a story. It begins with Keith's melancholy, violin-drenched duet with Lindsey Haun on the title track; progresses through the spiritual uplift of a revival of "Uncloudy Day" that finds Willie Nelson and BeBe Winans joining Keith, as well as Sonya Isaacs's testament to faith on "The Battlefield" (with harmonies by Vince Gill); and culminates in the rambunctious "Big Bull Rider," the bluesy boogie of "Zig Zag Stop," and the full-throttle rock 'n' roll of the closing "Jacky Don Tucker (Play by the Rules, Miss All the Fun)." Matraca Berg, Fred Eaglesmith, and Keith's running buddy Scotty Emerick are among the others contributing tracks. While Keith sings on only 7 of the 13 cuts, there's a unifying vision throughout. --Don McLeese

Phenomenal! September 23, 2006 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I have one word for this soundtrack: MERCY!!! This soundtrack is so phenomenal. I love all of the songs and all of the artists showcased, but I'd like to mention a few of the artists that truly stood out to me. Miss Lindsey Haun is probably one of the most talented singers I've heard since Carrie Underwood won American Idol. I am looking forward to Lindsey's debut album. Then there is Scotty Emerick. I always enjoy listening to him sing. Matraca Berg and Sonja Isaacs deliver powerful performances on their tracks. And, last but not least, Toby! I just can't say enough about how impressed I was by his performances on the soundtrack. It is with this soundtrack that Toby shows why he's had such a long and successful career in music. His voice is so versatile and completely amazing! (And, so is his songwriting abililty.) I especially loved his part in the song "Uncloudy Day". He sang it so exceptionally well that I cannot listen to it enough!
I highly recommend this album to everyone! It really is a truly amazing album.
Wonderful soundtrack August 29, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Included on this album are tracks by country veterans and some new comers. "Uncloudy Day" features Willie Nelson, Toby Keith and BeBe Winnans and will be appreciated by long time country fans. Toby Keith doesn't disappoint with new music including "Zig Zag Stop" and some tunes from past albums including the gentle ballad, "Crash Here Tonight" and the fun "Jacky Don Tucker".
New comer Lindsey Haun shines with her song "Broken" and in the brilliant duet with Keith, "Broken Bridges". I'm sure we will be seeing more from Haun as she has been signed to Keith's ShowDog label and has been featured on his recent tour.
This is one soundtrack that shouldn't be missed.

It's all good!!!! September 2, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Toby Keith may be setting up to showcase his acting talent, but he has really outdone himself with the soundtrack for the upcoming movie. The fourteen tracks included on the cd send the mind and soul through many emotions. Lindsey Haun (who plays Keith's daughter in the upcoming film) shows off a voice that evokes so many emotions with "Broken", Keith himself does not disappoint with when he duets with Haun on the movie's theme song "Broken Bridges".
Also included in this amazing musical collection are songs preformed by Matraca Berg, Flynnville Train, Fred Eaglesmith, Sonya Isaacs and Poor Richard's Hound. The legendary Willie Nelson and Bebe Winans join with Keith for an incredible redition of "Uncloudy Day", that will just blow you away.
Toby Keith does not dissappoint his long time fans with this latest offering. From the romantic "Crash Here Tonight" to the upbeat "Big Bull Rider", this is one cd that has a little something for everyone's musical taste.
You will not be dissappointed.

Worth every penny!!! August 31, 2006 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is what a soundtrack should be. Full of great songs with full relevance to the film. One should just set aside all political prejudices let the music do the talking, this is one you'll be able to listen to over and over again for a long time. Between Toby, Willie, Scotty Emerick and Matraca Berg you just can't go wrong! And I agree with Bette, Lindsey Hauns "Broken" is deservant of an Oscar nomination, it's that good!
