Amazon.com Though fans shouldn't mistake this various-artists soundtrack for the next Toby Keith album, the music for Keith's star-turn film (also featuring Kelly Preston, Burt Reynolds, and Willie Nelson) builds from reflective balladry to unbridled, triumphant rock. It may be hard to separate the thematic sequencing from the movie it accompanies, but the soundtrack itself tells a story. It begins with Keith's melancholy, violin-drenched duet with Lindsey Haun on the title track; progresses through the spiritual uplift of a revival of "Uncloudy Day" that finds Willie Nelson and BeBe Winans joining Keith, as well as Sonya Isaacs's testament to faith on "The Battlefield" (with harmonies by Vince Gill); and culminates in the rambunctious "Big Bull Rider," the bluesy boogie of "Zig Zag Stop," and the full-throttle rock 'n' roll of the closing "Jacky Don Tucker (Play by the Rules, Miss All the Fun)." Matraca Berg, Fred Eaglesmith, and Keith's running buddy Scotty Emerick are among the others contributing tracks. While Keith sings on only 7 of the 13 cuts, there's a unifying vision throughout. --Don McLeese

Phenomenal! September 23, 2006 Vicki Williamson (Monroe, Ga United States) 17 out of 18 found this review helpful
I have one word for this soundtrack: MERCY!!! This soundtrack is so phenomenal. I love all of the songs and all of the artists showcased, but I'd like to mention a few of the artists that truly stood out to me. Miss Lindsey Haun is probably one of the most talented singers I've heard since Carrie Underwood won American Idol. I am looking forward to Lindsey's debut album. Then there is Scotty Emerick. I always enjoy listening to him sing. Matraca Berg and Sonja Isaacs deliver powerful performances on their tracks. And, last but not least, Toby! I just can't say enough about how impressed I was by his performances on the soundtrack. It is with this soundtrack that Toby shows why he's had such a long and successful career in music. His voice is so versatile and completely amazing! (And, so is his songwriting abililty.) I especially loved his part in the song "Uncloudy Day". He sang it so exceptionally well that I cannot listen to it enough! I highly recommend this album to everyone! It really is a truly amazing album.

Loving Broken Bridges December 29, 2006 Jodie Dockery 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I could hardly wait for the cd to be released. It was even better that I thought it would be. It's so hard for me to pic favorite songs here. But Broken Bridges is a song that really touched my heart. I don't know of anyone who can't relate to the lyrics, just as in the lyrics to Broken. This cd can make you laugh and make you cry, it can make you take a long hard look at your own life and the choices you've made. TKIFC
It's all good!!!! September 2, 2006 Colleen Clark (Florida) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Toby Keith may be setting up to showcase his acting talent, but he has really outdone himself with the soundtrack for the upcoming movie. The fourteen tracks included on the cd send the mind and soul through many emotions. Lindsey Haun (who plays Keith's daughter in the upcoming film) shows off a voice that evokes so many emotions with "Broken", Keith himself does not disappoint with when he duets with Haun on the movie's theme song "Broken Bridges". Also included in this amazing musical collection are songs preformed by Matraca Berg, Flynnville Train, Fred Eaglesmith, Sonya Isaacs and Poor Richard's Hound. The legendary Willie Nelson and Bebe Winans join with Keith for an incredible redition of "Uncloudy Day", that will just blow you away. Toby Keith does not dissappoint his long time fans with this latest offering. From the romantic "Crash Here Tonight" to the upbeat "Big Bull Rider", this is one cd that has a little something for everyone's musical taste. You will not be dissappointed.
