Album Description Although this San Fernando Valley band's sound draws on grunge and new metal, they've been lauded for lyrics and vocals that mean something to the listener. Their reputation for exciting live shows has nurtured a loyal fan base. Look for them on major US tours this fall.

Smile Empty Satire November 3, 2006 Nicholas D. Formica Jr. (Tampa, FL United States) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
To everyone that has listened to this CD and reviewed it poorly...which CD are you listening to? This album is rife with delicious satire, parody and most importantly, socially-biting hooks. But it doesn't stop at the lyrics, which are masterfully done; the music is actually crafted to bring dissonance and consonance to the entire experience. Look, if you haven't figured out yet that Sean and the rest of the band are both well read and well educated, then pop on your Spinal Tap cd and deconstruct that. There is so much philosophy, so much Nietzsche, Kierkegaard, Freud and so many others sprinkled in both the lyrics and the music it makes it absurdly simplistic to say things like 'Smile let me down' or 'Smile didn't keep it real'. Go back and listen to the album, read some books, and figure out that Smile Empty Soul is one of the finest bands out there. If you want to listen to 'Bottom of a Bottle' every night and complain about progression, be my guest. But then why don't you take a cue from the hidden track and "All move to Hollywood" where everyone is fake. Smile, like they always do, sacrifices fame, money and respect for one thing: the music
Smile empty soul released another smash hit! December 9, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a very amazing cd by one of the best bands ever-Smile Empty soul. I brought it on the fith of December. This one only hs 12 tracks. SES instead of basing it on thier music, they base songs of off lyrics. Thease songs are about issues that an every day teen faces. But be advised, they do some cursing. Most of the cursing is done in "Live Forever". The other 11 songs should be great. However, only a few songs are on par with one of thier best albulms ever Anxeity. with is a shame since I was expecting a little bit more out of SES. But since Anxeity wasnt released by the record commpanies , this will have to do. This is still a GREAT abulm because its new and the singer Sean Dilisen has something to say! The best songs on here are: "Heres to Another", "The Hit", "Out to sea", "The Freaks are Comming". I rate this abulm a 8/10.
Awesome CD October 24, 2006 S. Baker (Cincy, Ohio) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I actually bought this CD about a week before it came out at one of Smile Empty Souls shows. After listening to it about two times in a row, and letting it all sink in I have to say that this CD has something to offer everyone. Every song is amazing in its own way, and any Smile Empty Soul fan should have this CD by now and know what I am talking about. Almost anyone can relate to at least one song, or one set of lyrics off of this CD in their own way. Overall, Vultures is simply an amazing CD, so go out and buy it if you haven't already.

I had the chance to pick up the album at one of there recent shows. Vultures is one of the very few albums that I own that I can put into a CD player and never hit the skip button. Love the addtion of mike booth, it gives them a fuller sound and the lyrics are amazing. Ive been waiting for this album for a long time and i have to say it was well worth the wait, Vultures definitely doesnt disappoint!!
