Children of Madness December 30, 2006 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
The COB DVD is a must buy....I should say this one has all the songs that had to be here except that Everytime I Die is a little bit slower here....anyway they pull of this one, Silent Night Bodom Night, Hatebreeder and Needled 24/7....Buy this and play this to your home theater player along with LOG (Killadelphia), Machine Head(Elegies), Megadeth(Rude Awakening), Arch Enemy(My Apocalypse) and Dream Theater(Live in Budokan) and its like you are in a festival...
Children of Bodom Rules
Alexi at his finest December 14, 2006 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is a must-have for any fan of death, medodic metal! The live show is awesome and has great close-ups of Alexi ripping through solos. While the impact of the other members is small, they all get decent 'face time' and the production is top notch. The rest of the DVD has a documentary that's "interesting" and all of COBs videos. This isn't the best metal dvd out there, but certainly all metalheads should have in their collection.
Impressive January 19, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This Dvd was amazing. Children of bodom are one of the best live metal bands out there and this shows them at their finest. This DVD is very good especially for the low price.
Great show of a great band December 14, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Children of bodom is one of the best metal band in the world. When I heard they were making a dvd I was excited because I never saw them live. Now that I watched the dvd, I can say that they are as impressive in show as they are in the studio. While the show is great Ido have one complaint.I think the set list isn't as impresive. Here's the concert tracklist:
Living Dead Beat Sixpounder Silent Night, Bodom Night Hate Me! We're Not Gonna Fall Angels Don't Kill Deadbeats I (drum solo) Bodom After Midnight / Bodom Beach Terror - medley Follow the Reaper Needled 24/7 Clash of the Booze Brothers (solo battle) In Your Face Hate Crew Deathroll Are You Dead Yet? Solo: Roope Latvala - Guitar Lake Bodom Everytime I Die Downfall
The problem I have is that their 2 best album for me is hatebreeder and follow the reaper. As you can see they forgot a lot of their best song such as hatebreeder, children of bodom, mask of sanity or kissing the shadows just to name a few.By the way their killer song Bodom after midnight included in the show has been dramastically cut which is unfortunate because it is trully one of their best. One of the best thing of the show has to be the drum solo (who would have thought that he only use one bass drum)In terms of extra there is a documentary and music videos. In conclusion I dont think its the best metal show Ive seen on dvd but for only 10$if your a fan then you should pick this up and if you're not pick it up anywayit is totally worth it.
EVERYTHING WORKS EXCEPT THE MIX March 23, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
A great performance considering the band is drunk as a muthaf@#ker. The band is spot on perfect. Good editing and great camera work with lots of fretboard close-ups. Great lighting and stage design with lots of flashpots. The whole band performs with amazing energy.
IMHO, the only thing that kills this show is the muddy mix. Too many highs with almost no mids or bottom end. The bass drums during Jaska's drum solo sound like someone tapping out rhythms on a coffee table with their hands. COB's studio albums don't have a lot of bottom, but a LIVE Metal show should vibrate the walls. I could barely feel the vibration in my floor at an extremely high volume. These guys need a new man at the mixing board.
Maybe next time.
The concert was shot in widescreen with a 2.0 or 5.1 Surround mix.
If you're a serious audiophile you may be disappointed. I know I was.
