5 out of 5 stars Brilliant & Worth Every Penny! (note: this review contains the corrected track listing)   October 11, 2007

hello to anyone reading this! I am a old-school, die-hard Elton fan; my first concert ever was the legendary Elton John show at Madison Square Garden on November 28, 1974 - Elton's special guest that night was John Lennon (in what turned out to be Lennon's final-ever performance on a live concert stage). In the 30+ years since then, I've seen Elton at MSG many many many times - and I was there on 03/25/07 when Elton celebrated his 60th birthday. I'm proud to be writing the first Amazon review of this amazing DVD/CD set. For hard-core fans like me, seeing him play old rarely-performed album tracks like "High Flying Bird", "Where To Now, St. Peter?", "Ballad of A Well Known Gun" and "Hercules" was a thrill and a treat. My friends and I were seriously hoping that the ENTIRE 03/25/07 concert would be released on DVD. Well, this box set contains the ENTIRE 03/25/07 concert ... and more! The whole thing is completely butt-kicking and if you're a fan of the man and his music then this is a must-have box set.

Here's the complete, correct listing of everything contained on all 3 discs:

    5 out of 5 stars One Word - Fantastic!   October 12, 2007

This exclusive package is absolutely brilliant. Not only will you have a ball watching Elton simply on fire at his 60th, the amazing extras make this package far superior to other Elton DVD's. You simply must see someone saved my life tonight at the Edinburgh Playhouse Theatre in which elton gives a stunning highly emotional version of the song. And also a touching rare version of We all fall in love sometimes/ Curtains (MSG, 2005) dedicated to Bernie.

The sound quality of the concert is superb and you will have a blast powering up the home theatre! The HD camerawork is great, so many angles, so many close-ups of Elton's legendary piano work and the detail is extraordinary you can't get any closer, even if you were there on the night. The band was in great spirits for this show and what a set-list!! So many rare gems.

Don't forget to look out for all the VIP's and celebrities throughout the show. Also, the lighting and visuals were incredible, ultra vegas style.

    Enjoy!, I did...

This DVD has to rate among My favorite EJ concerts! It was wonderful to hear something other than just His
"mega-hits" And I swear that If I could have written His set list Myself, I wouldn't have changed a song !!
The sound and beauty of this concert has to be seen on a big screen and heard on a good stereo system, turn it up and enjoy !!!

5 out of 5 stars A Must for Any Elton John fan   November 6, 2007

This is a great keepsake for any Elton John fan -- superior photography, excellent sound quality, and a long list of great tunes. One is pleasantly surprised to hear some of the more obscure, but excellent, songs from early albums, and it only goes to show that Elton continues to be a master artist. Cameo views of current celebrities in the audience were a nice touch. Madison Square Garden is a great venue. If there is a weakness in the presentation, it is the background videos on the big screens -- they did nothing to really enhance the performance, and in some cases were distracting. Bonus tracks are well organized and present a time capsule of Elton's life and works. A real collector's item for anyone who has followed Elton John's career.

Only issue was that the commemorative backstage pass was missing -- distributor has contacted consumers to correct the omission.

4 out of 5 stars Still, 60 And Still Rocking   November 8, 2007

When it comes to great music, there have been some really great highlights this past year, especially in British Rock this year. With the reunions of The Police & Genesis this year, many people have been reintroduced with great songs and melodies that this generation, who seems to be more interested in Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, hasn't heard. That also can be said for Elton John, who this year celebrated 2 milestones. The first is his 40th anniversary since he met his long-running songwriting partner and friend, Bernie Taupin, who helped him make music history for five decades of great pop music. But, his biggest milestone is celebrating his 60th birthday, and a special concert to celebrate with.

Elton 60: Live At Madison Square Garden is a well-dedicated and celebrated concert where Elton celebrated his 60th birthday, and his 60th live concert performance at Madison Square Garden. The concert is well-celebrated, as was shown earlier this year on the new My Network channel. The concert showcases Elton performing some of his biggest songs including classics like The Bitch Is Back, his standard Your Song, I Guess That's Why They Call It the Blues, the somber Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and Daniel. The live performance of these songs sounds great and well-dedicated to his craft, even with some of his lesser-known tracks which are heard live for the first time on DVD like High Flying Bird, Roy Rogers, and his most recent track The Bridge from his 2006 album The Captain & The Kid. The DVD also includes other live performances from Elton's long-running career on the extra disc, including clips of performances from other New York events like Empty Garden, and Mona Lisas & Mad Hatters from 1973. The moments have all been remastered well, and bring out a great dedication of his carftsmanship of a great showman Elton has shown all over the years, and what so many acts today could still learn from him.

All in all, Elton 60: Live At Madison Square Garden is a great buy for the die hard Elton John fan, or for anybody who hasn't yet heard or seen the Elton John experience. It is a great buy for any music lover. I really think this is one of the best music video DVD's of this year, and Elton John still knows how to show it.
