Amazon.com For fans of brazen electronic music, few acts offer the longevity, consistency, and booty-shakin' insistence of Daft Punk. In a kind of tenth anniversary celebration of the Parisian duo's limited-edition live album Alive 1997, Alive 2007 captures a long and sweaty concert performed before 18,000 hometown fans. There's almost nothing by way of original material here, though the performance culls all of Daft Punk's many notable singles from their uncompromising debut, Homework, the merciless Human After All; and the opulent, seminal Discovery (including lead single "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," which garnered renewed fame as the predominant sample buoying "Stronger," from rapper Kanye West's third album, Graduation). Regardless, devoted Parisians had weathered a full decade without a live performance, and the ecstatic, roof-raising release captured in this recording testifies to Daft Punk's inimitable position as one of the world's top electro-house phenomena. More importantly, perhaps, by fusing two or more "songs" per "track," Alive 2007 pulls off what 2003's remix/rarities album, "Daft Club," could not: namely, mixing the band's back catalogue with the kinetic fervor it deserves. At the end of the day (or the decade), no one does Daft Punk like Daft Punk. --Jason Kirk

Let the mind journey begin! November 21, 2007 Daniel C. Hatfield (Orlando, FL USA) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
Alive 2007 In the wake of their 2007 international tour, Daft Punk releases "Alive 2007, a live recording of their performance in Paris. I can honestly say that, despite rarely finding time these days to listen to techo-style music, listening to this album was a thrilling experience. From what I've read, actually being at one of their concerts was downright incredible. In any case, for those of us who probably wouldn't know what to do with ourselves at a Daft Punk performance, we do have this sensational release. Close your eyes and get ready for the quintessential house/electronica mind journey.
In one word, incredible. May 19, 2008 Yoshi (Yoshi's Island) 11 out of 11 found this review helpful
I've always liked Daft Punk, for me, but their albums never stay in rotation for more than a couple weeks without getting old. This live cd, on the other hand, is absolutely amazing-- I've had it for a few months now, and it still blows my mind. You really feel the energy of the crowd in these songs, and you feel like you're right there if you close your eyes. I've heard the live show is "the best concert anyone has ever been, or will go, to", in the words of a friend. This album does a pretty good job of getting that point across. The remixes of the songs are fantastic-- the melodies of different songs intertwine wonderfully. My favorites on the album are "Robot Rock/Oh Yeah" and "Television Rules The Nation/Crescendolls". Seriously, though, you won't find a fault with any of the songs. They're all great, easy to love, and even easier to dance to. If you're a fan of electronic music, you HAVE to buy this. It's easily the best house/electronic album I've heard in a long time.
Incredible November 22, 2007 J. Meehan (Chicago, IL) 11 out of 12 found this review helpful
I saw Daft Punk's performance at Lollapalooza in Chicago. Between the light show, the music, and maybe 60,000 people going crazy on a beautiful night in Chi-town, this was one of the most incredible shows I have ever seen. Listening to this album (even though this was from the Paris show) is like going back to that night. Been a long time Daft Punk fan. Only other time seeing them live was at a ghetto rave on the south side after Homework was released. From that tiny show to this world-class performance was quite a progression. Great to see them back in the limelight.

Fan of electronica/techno? Stop thinking about it, just click the buy button. You won't regret it. Absolutely incredible album. Some of the most incredible & action packed techno I've ever heard, staying just short of the too-repetitive line that a lot of techno/electonica can cross. As this is a live recording, the audience reactions add even more to the experience. Anywhere you need a little musical pick-me-up, this is it. A serious test for your sound system as well. A total mind-trip. A+!
So Awesome I had to get tickets to next show December 12, 2007 Ethan Gardella (Los Angeles, CA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
The CD is so good and full of everything I liked about Daft Punk that I went out and got put on the list about info for the next tour. This is one of the best live cds to come out of electronica in a long time.
