Harder, Darkder, Faster....what more needs to be said? February 6, 2008 Michael (FL United States) 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
Let me start the review with an overview about MVI (Music Video Interactive) for those that aren't familiar with it. In your dvd player, it plays sorta like your basic music dvd: it may contain music videos, behinds the scenes, live footage, etc. However, every disc also features dvd audio for those who have 5.1 surround. Also, when you put the disc into your dvd-rom drive on your computer, you get buddy icons, wallpapers, a link to where you can create your own ring tones using select tracks from the cd, updates on bonus content, etc. While I do feel that this is a very experimental format (only few albums have been released in MVI), the concept is interesting if not innovative. Look at DualDisc....having a cd on one side and dvd on the other caused it to actually weigh more, leading to the danger of damaging your cd or dvd player. I'd rather take my chances with MVI where it's actually two separate discs instead of one. When I first found out that a reissue for Thornography was coming out, it was October 2006, and the album had just been released. You could imagine the frustration, but I'm a fan. When early details were released, the bonus dvd was said to include live footage, a "making of" feature, and a number of other cool extras. Full details later on said that it would be what it is now: an MVI disc. So it seemed that the cool stuff was ditched....and the bonus tracks are on the dvd, not the cd. Not having any experience with this format at all, I was put off at first. In certain ways, I still am. It seems though that all of the tracks on the dvd including the full album are also in mp3 format so that you can put them on to a cd or your ipod. I feel that while this reissue is not a total misfire, it would've been nice to at least have gotten the live performance and the documentary that was originally going to be included. Even if you own the regular version, this is still a great buy.
Solid, but does not include surrond sound mix on the DVD December 6, 2008 Auston (Austin, TX United States) This release has new artwork included, but does not include the original album cover artwork in the paper booklet. The DVD contains the original album in stereo, but not 5.1 (note that DVD-Audio is a specific technology such as Blu-ray or SACD). On the DVD, each song from the album plays in stereo with artwork displayed on the screen for each song. All the bonuses in addition to the original album makes this release well worth getting if you plan to enjoy it on DVD.
For Cradle fans... Get this one! August 20, 2008 Six (Hell Centro, CA) Glad I held out and eventually bought this version... Includes full album in plain cd format, which is a great album from the band. But also contains the DVD, which for those of you with a DVD drive on your PC, is "pure Gold"... pop this in and DL the entire album in 320 (for backup) as well as all of the BONUS songs in 320 kbs (aka TOP quality)... as well as the fun as hell numyx songs to play with (and of course all of the typical "bonus cd fodder like pics and links and whatnot..) and make your own... too bad I can't figure out how to DL "those" in 320... either way. the best bang for buck if you're a Cradle fan and plan on purchasing this album... And not to mention, not you're average "Deluxe" edition, you really do get plenty more here with this one...
Just Awesome! June 4, 2008 Michele Davenport (Cleveland ,TN) The Cradle Of Filth Hardee and Faster CD is even better than the first.I'm a big fan of the Filth and have seen them twice. This cd rocks! The DVD is even better love the videos and the extras. I give it two metal horns way up high. \m/\m/
Where is the 5.1 sound ? April 4, 2008 Music lover (Greece) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I must give this 3 stars , not due to the fact that I do not like the album , but because the MVI is not what it was promoted to be . This was supposed to be in 5.1 surround sound , but there is no such thing . The DVD side of the MVI is only in 48/16 PCM without it being surround . Other than that the album (which i also own on regular cd) is excellent and all the other goodies and extras of MVI as well worth buying .
