Cascada's creative covers - US Edition March 25, 2008 Amanda Richards (Georgetown, Guyana) 10 out of 11 found this review helpful
German group Cascada's second album goes back to what they're really good at - covering popular songs and transforming them into Eurodance hits. Being dance music, many of the tracks have similar driving beats, but this album WILL make you want to go clubbing, or at least jig(gle) around the house a little. The first single is "What Hurts the Most", originally a country song sung by Mark Wills, and the second is the original "What Do You Want From Me?" Also look for the cover of "Because the Night" (Patti Smith), and "Runaway", "Perfect Day" and the ballad (yes, ballad) "Could It Be You?" which showcases the strong vocals of Natalie Horler. This is the US edition of this album which has a different track list to the UK version. The songs "I Will Believe It", "SK8er Boi" (Avril Lavigne), "Just Like a Pill" (P!nk) and "Endless Summer" aren't included on this album, and the tracks "Faded", "Holiday" and "Dream On Dreamer" aren't on the UK version. Personally I'd go for the baker's dozen on the UK album. Rated: 3.5 stars Amanda Richards, March 25, 2008
Near Perfect March 4, 2008 Josh (Minneapolis, MN USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have always loved Cascada's voice - so beautiful and pure. I do have to say that sometimes it is overpowered by the heavy bass and beats. The songs can be a bit repetitive and predictable. I have to admit that I like this CD better than `Everytime We Touch' - which I was pretty disappointed in. This CD is the perfect dance CD but, I would like to hear her voice showcased more because it is such a great one. "What Hurts The Most" is, in my opinion, my favorite song on here (both versions). The piano mix is beautiful and really shows what a great voice she has! "Could It Be You" is a very melodic slower song that grabs your attention and draws you in. Very nice. All in all, there are a few things lacking here but, it is a CD that adds something to my collection and it will to yours too. A great, fun dance CD. ~~~JAC 08'
Bright, flashy, beautiful, but too unoriginal May 15, 2009 FizzWiz (Pittsburgh, PA) Most or all of her songs on this album and the last one are cover songs. Cascada needs more original songs. I don't know if her voice is as nice as it sounds on the CD since everything is wholly produced. Cascada tends to fit the mainstream beauty queen of overly used produced techno pop music that is great sounding, but very unoriginal to the point of superficialness. Most of the remakes do not stand out besides What Hurts the Most, which provides a good beat and melody for a different version to a great song. There is a lot of becoming promise for Cascada if the record companies let her, but it is probably more about the $$$$.
a perfect day to dance! December 11, 2008 B.B (Florida) Perfect day to... dance! This new Cascada album is for lovers of fast beat happy dance it has many great euro dance songs with lots of energy. Just think techno 90's buzz with happy dreamy vocals. A great cd album to get if you like uplifting dance!
A guilty pleasure November 8, 2008 E. Anderson I have to admit I didn't care much for Cascada's first album, much less listen to euro pop. I thought the group's previous album was repetitive and ridiculously cheesy. On a whim, I recently decided to check out the group's latest album PERFECT DAY. Much to my surprise I found myself enjoying the catchy euro-pop songs. The songs are pure ear candy for my ears. The infectious pop melodies are permanently stuck in my head. PERFECT DAY isn't innovative. It is the same what one would expect from a group like Cascada, fun catchy pop/dance songs. Natalie Horer has a pretty decent voice which reminded me a little of Christina Aguilera. The lyrics are stupid but the addictive pop hooks and throbbing dance beats makes up for the awful lyrics. I didn't care much for "Because the Night". That song was not meant to be turned into a dance song. The ballads were awful. For all the flaws though, PERFECT DAY is still enjoyable enough for me to give it four stars. It is a nice change of pace from all the goth, industrial, and metal I listen to all day long at work.
