Album Description 2008 sophomore album from the singer, songwriter and modern troubadour who Rolling Stone called 'this generation's Bob Dylan'. Simple Times takes the simplicity of his debut album and adds more depth and layers to the production, bringing Radin forward while also making sure he has at least one foot firmly in the past. A natural step forward, to put it simply.

DESERVES STARDOM October 6, 2008 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
AS OLDER AARP AGE MUSIC LOVER WHO ENJOYS NEW ARTISTS, I AFFIRM THAT JOSHUA RADIN IS THE FINEST SONG-WRITER AND IN-PERSON PERFORMER I HAVE COME ACROSS IN YEARS. HIS TWO COLLECTIONS ARE MATURE AND SOPHISTICATED AND HAVE AN APPEAL ACROSS AGE BOUNDARIES. WHY HE IS NOT FILLING LARGE VENUES ACROSS THE COUNTRY (HE WILL---BELIEVE ME!!!!) AT THIS POINT MAY BE DUE TO THE NATION'S EMBRACE OF THE "AMERICAN IDOL" FOOLS RATHER THAN TRUE POETS AND COMPOSERS. EVERYBODY SHOULD OWN BOTH OF HIS RELEASES!!!
Simple Times - not simplistic at all! October 1, 2008 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
Josh Radin's second offering, "Simple Times," improves on the semi-maudlin feeling of his first CD (We Were There). The music is more upbeat, more positive, and even has a bit of "swing" to it - at least some of the cuts. Definitely worth listening to, several times - the more I've listened, the more I've enjoyed! Hope you do, too!
A must have October 5, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Without a doubt, Joshua Radin is one of the most talented singer/songwriters. His lyrics speak to everyone and he sings them with such emotion you can't help but love every single song. There are some songs that are better than others but this is one of those cds you can listen to over and over again. Why he is not all over public radio I do not understand. His songs are featured all over tv and movies and each time they are used, they make the scene so much more powerful. He is truly amazing in person as well. He joined the crowd and did a small acoustic set with no microphone and although his voice seems very small he amazed me with the power his voice actual has. It is my opinion everyone should own every song and cd he ever puts out. If you truly love indie rock music, you will love Joshua Radin.
Not as good as 'We were here' October 2, 2008 2 out of 6 found this review helpful
First let me say that I LOVE 'we were here'. While this album is good, it's nowhere near as good as 'we were here' My main problem are all the duets. I guess he felt that he needed a female's voice in about half of the tracks and this completely ruins it for me. His voice is good enough without them. The album is still good and recommended for Radin fans, just don't epect anything as good as 'we were here'
great tracks - One of those days - I'd rather be with you - Brand new day
OK tracks - Sky - They bring me to you - No envy No fear - Vegetable car
BAD tracks - Friend like you (sounds like it was written by a 12 year old) - Free of me (boring lyrics, boring melody) - We are OK (boring lyrics, boring melody)
Worst track
- You got growin up to do (This track was AMAZING on the 'unclear sky' album. possibly my favorite of any of radin's songs. I don't kwow what he was thinking here but he completely butchered the song. The girl singing with him is so bad it's laughable.)
New from Indi label Mom & Pop Records September 30, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
The first release of new indi label Mom & Pop Records is by the up and coming Joshua Radin. Fans of Ellen Degeneres were treated to his song Friend Like You, which will be released soon as a single, on her show after playing for her wedding ceremony. His sound is obviously rooted in the folk traditions of the past, reminiscent of Fleet Wood Mack, but shares some of the more updated chord progressions from todays stars such as Dave Mathews and Gavin Degraw. His voice is also indicative of the style, soft and moody but punctuated and brassy at the necesarry times. This debut albulm is a must-have in the collection of any alternative oficianado, perfect for that soothing winding-down after a long, bad day.
