Another Winner From Chesney! October 18, 2008 J. Moreau (Nottingham, MD) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
This is one of KC's best albums to date; in fact, the only songs I really don't like are "Everbody Wants To Go To Heaven" and "Ten With a Two." Other than these two songs, this album is great!
Once again, KC does not do traditional country music here; yet, this album does not have the same rock-and-roll sound of his previous hits such as "Young" and "Big Star." The first few songs on here are more soul bearing and refelctive, haunting and telling; think songs like "Road and the Radio" and "There Goes My Life." The second part of the album is KC's trademark "island country" music that has come to define his recent cds; think slower-versions of songs like "No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problem" and "When the Sun Goes Down."
Overall, most of the songs on "Lucky Old Sun" have a slower feel than many of KC's past albums - as if KC wanted this album to be about storytelling instead of simply producing "good time" music. My favorite songs are "I'm Alive", "Way Down Here" and "Nowhere To Go, Nowhere To Be." I highly recommend this album!
Lucky Old Sun Deluxe April 14, 2009 Nancy D. Higgins (USA) 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I love Kenny Chesney, but this one is a little melancholy on the one hand and recklessly beer soaked on the other...not my fave
Love the mood of Lucky Old Sun! February 6, 2010 Annawyz (ANCHORAGE, ALASKA, US) I love these songs, keep you feeling that no mater what you will survive it all. Best is I'm alive & well but really like all the songs.
Love it! January 17, 2010 Grammapux (WI) I think this is the first time I've loved every song on an album. I'd heard "I'm Alive" on the radio and went looking for it. Found a treasure.
Excellent album January 7, 2010 OnthePath (Boston, USA) I bought the CD for my husband, because he likes country music. He loves it and I too!!!! Our favorite track is : I'm Alive and Well. We hear it every time we feel stressed and it immediately lifts our spirits. A great buy!
