There is honestly no question about Mariah Carey lately. She honestly has had a few bumps in the road lately. With the lackluster status of her latest album Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel, many people had wondered if Mariah's career has gone dry. Unfortunately for right now, it has been in a dry spell. Her lackluster album hasn't generated the spark that hard core Mariah Carey fans had deeply hoped for. Instead, her recent showcase in the spotlight has been actually toward her marriage to America's Got Talent host Nick Cannon, and her return to acting with the critical acclaim of Precious. But, she still wants her hard core fans to appreciate her best in work. That, she tries to show with her latest box set.
Mariah Carey's 3 CD Collector's Set, is a showcase of Mariah's work from her 3 previous albums before Memoirs..., 2008's E=MC2, the blockbuster The Emanicipation Of Mimi from 2005, and her Island Records debut, 2002's Charmbracelet. The collection is a buy for anyone whom is a hard core Mariah Carey fan, but not actually for a definiitive fan, or for whom has already a copy of each of the 3 albums. Neerthless, there are a few great songs that still remain distinctive from Mariah's work including It's Like That, The #1 smash We Belong Together, the intimate Through The Rain, and her provocative Touch My Body. The collection of albums sound very strong being remastered but overall, not a definitive buy for any record buyer for their music library.
Overall, this Collector's Set from Mariah Carey, might be a great buy who is a hard core fan, that doesn't own all Emancipation Of Mimi, Charmbracelet, and E=MC2. But, I really wouldn't recommend this as a must have. I would honestly suggest that die hard fans should honestly wait patiently for a simple greatest hits package from Mariah's Island era, instead of purchasing this boxed set. This is why I really don't recommend it, it's like that.
