    Product Description
Twilight is an action packed, modern day love story between a vampire and a human. Bella Swan has always been a little bit different and when her mother sends Bella to live with her father in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn't expect much of anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen, a boy unlike any she's ever met. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Like all vampires, he's immortal. But he doesn't have fangs, and he doesn't drink human blood. To Edward, Bella is that thing he has waited 90 years for: a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. But what will Edward and Bella do when James, Laurent and Victoria, the Cullens' mortal vampire enemies, come to town, looking for her? This is the first movie from the book series from author Stephanie Meyer. The series are currently some of the most popular books written for young adults, with sales exceeding 50 million copies worldwide since the Twilight debut in 2004 and over 7.7 million copies sold in the U.S. alone. The fourth book in the series, Breaking Dawn, was released on August 2, 2008 and sold over 1.2 million units on the first day.

    Album Description
Every song on the Twilight soundtrack is featured in the movie. The soundtrack includes `Decode,' an exclusive song from Paramore written specifically for Twilight! 'I chose the title 'Decode' because the song is about the building tension, awkwardness, anger and confusion between Bella and Edward. Bella is the only mind Edward can't read and I feel like that's a big part of the first book and one of the obstacles for them to overcome. It's one added tension that makes the story even better.'-- Hayley Williams / Paramore.

1 out of 5 stars Twilight Soundtrack   November 4, 2008
71 out of 118 found this review helpful

This is the perfect soundtrack to appeal to the fans of Twilight. Its vapid and pumped full of mediocre tracks by mediocre bands that are force-fed to the youth of America, who would sooner take MTV's word for it than go out in search of their own musical identity. Of course, writing a review like this is an exercise in futility, as fans of Twilight are exactly the kind of people who would sooner be force-fed opinions than take a chance and form one of their own, so I'm more than ready for some fallout from this review. But what can I say, I do love a good exercise in futility, and what needs be said needs be said. Other than the inclusion of Iron and Wine's sublime "Flightless Bird, American Mouth," this soundtrack is chock full of cookie cutter rock and roll tripe. Honestly though, that's an insult to tasty tripe everywhere. Paramore? Muse? Linkin Park? Collective Soul? This soundtrack could be Now That's What I Call Music #2485 for all the soulless garbage clogging up the silicon disc, which honestly deserves a much better fate than housing eleven garbage tracks and one inexplicably present gem. I know that nothing I say will stop people from loving cut-and-paste teen trash like Twilight and the related films, soundtracks, and feminine hygiene products (just you wait for it), but I'm at least going to urge: please, people, think for yourselves, and don't buy into what Hollywood wants you to think is good music. This soundtrack gets 1/10, and that's only because "Flightless Bird..." is such an excellent track.

    3 out of 5 stars Didn't grab me.   November 5, 2008

Driving techno and peppy beats wasn't what I expected for Bella and Edward. Somehow it doesn't fit my perception of their love story or the cadence of a dreary green landscape. I don't think it needed to be depressing but this is a bit grating for my ears. Even the lullaby (the only reason why I bought the album) sounds like overly produced scales-- Definitely not something a man in love would compose for the woman who makes him feel everything that he once believed dead. I doubt Edward was surrounded by an orchestra when he plays this for her and the song barely has any emotional impact when played by piano alone.

Robert Pattinson's song was moody and underproduced. I loved it. Iron & Wine was pretty. Linkin Park song almost sets the right mood but fails. Blue Foundation works well for me. Paramore barely gets a nod for me because Evanescence does moody and tortured better.

I think I will buy the movie score (if that is released) to get what I was looking for. This soundtrack is meant to appeal to the masses.

If you are buying the CD for any inserts...don't bother. Nothing but a tiny poster.

All of the songs were good in their own right but the tenor of the music wasn't what I was hoping to experience. Buying this CD for the music without regard to the Twilight story and your gonna love it.

A good example of the music-movie relationship (although the movie was awful) was Queen of the Damned. The sound track set you up for the movie experience. Another was Garden State, great music that fit movie the characters moods.

3 out of 5 stars Not Exactly What I Envisioned, But Not Bad   November 10, 2008

I devoured the four Twilight books and grabbed the soundtrack the day it came out in anticipation of the upcoming movie. I found the collection of rock tracks to be a lot darker and angsty than I was hoping for. Good songs, but just harder and angrier. Yes, its a vampire movie and there is action, but I also expected there to be softer pieces more along the lines of Rob Pattinson's song. This is a love story before anything else. I didn't get that feeling at all from the CD. The more I listen, the more I like the music, but I think I'll have to see how its used in the movie before I can make a final judgement.

I do have to agree with other reviewers that the biggest disappointment was Bella's Lullaby. This superorchestrated piece of music is beautiful but nothing like its described in the book. The version of "A River Flows in You" by Yiruma that has been circulating on the web is a beautiful and much more appropriate song that I wish could've been included instead.

I'm hoping the original score released in December will have the music I'm looking for.

5 out of 5 stars This is an excellent soundtrack   November 4, 2008

The best songs on this soundtrack are the two tracks by Paramore. These songs rock. Lead singer Hayley Williams provides excellent vocals on the songs "Decode" and "I Caught Myself". "Supermassive Black Hole" is another song that is very good. The singer of this band has an unusually high voice, but it sounds cool. "Tremble For My Beloved" is a great tune from Collective Soul. This is a beautiful love song and one of my favorites. I love the violin playing on the track "Full Moon". "Flightless Bird" is a slow but prettty song by Iron and Wine. "Eyes on Fire" is yet another slow song. This song has a sensual quality that I like though. "Leave Out All The Rest" by Linkin Park is another one of my favorites. This song is sad but very romantic. I will conclude this review with Bella's theme. The piano playing gives me chicken skin. It is absolutely lovely. I really like the music on this soundtrack. I can't wait to see the movie.

1 out of 5 stars VERY DISAPPOINTING!   November 5, 2008

I am a HUGE fan and have read all 4 books. I was anxiously awaiting this soundtrack. What a huge disappointment. Why did Stephenie Meyers not ask Evanescence to create a song or two for the movie? This is exactly up their alley. Amy could have created a short piano for Bella's Lullaby (the biggest disappointment of all from teh soundtrack). Sorry fans but I have to be honest.
