Ok this cd is like one long extremely wack song. The beats are catchy but after awhile they all sound the same. One beat is not unique over the other. The Lyrics? They are terrible . I don't like jeezy's flow, it is lethargic and lazy and he never changes it up (repetitive). Nas Killed him on his own track due to jezzy does not know how to be versatile with his lyrics and the way he delivers the lyric. Not to mention that his voice is down right annoying. He sounds like he has tons of phlegm or another thick white fluid (LOL) caught in his throat. Jeezy tries to pattern himself after the great Scarface and just doesn't measure up. This album is a supreme waste of money.

Young Jeezy really brought the fire to the party with The Recession. After two largely undeniable albums Lets Get It Thug Motivation 101 and The Inspiration, Young Jeezy manages to equal and maybe surpass the quality of those two records. The Recession is well balanced and right on time.
It's a given that Young Jeezy isn't everyone's favorite cup of tea. Its been 4 years since Jeezy first dropped with countless features, appearances, and mixtapes and Some still haven't caught up with how he raps. He is indeed a very clever rapper (read skilled) and that coupled with a nearly overwhelming presence tracks, excellent production, and a thing called charisma; it's no wonder he is one of the top rappers releasing albums today. His flow is tighter this time around, his lyrics more potent, his focus much more clearer.
Apperances are kept to a minimum with Lil Boosie (why people sleep on Boosie?!?), Nas (yes that Nas), and Kanye West as well as singers Anthony Hamilton and Trey Songz. Needless to say Jeezy can handle himself. Content is what you would expect from a hip hop album as well as a little politics and introspection. Put On is a monster track no doubt about that but also Circulate, Don't Do It, Crazy World, By The Way, Hustlaz Ambition, My President etc etc. There is not a weak song on this 18 track album. The Itunes bonus track Done It should have definitely been on the album as well. Production is handled by DJ Toomp, Drumma Boy, Midnight Black, Don Cannon, Justice League, and others.
The Recession is undoubtedly one of the best albums of the year so far (along with Lil Wayne, Plies, Nas, Killer Mike, Bun B) and will take a few monumental efforts to knock it out of top 5 and album of the year discussions. Young Jeezy, with this album, has established himself as one of the top rappers of this decade and you shouldn't miss out on it.

Yes I'm broke too, but I am very happy I bought this CD. Jeezy has always been known for his outstanding beat selection and catchy hooks, but his lyrics has previously been less than stellar. Previously, Jeezy has fallen into the trap of being about style over substance. However, on this CD, Young Jeezy kills it! His story telling ablities have improved significantly since his last offering. Bombastic beats are also availible in massive doses, providing you with a CD that bangs in the whip, or can be dissected line by line to reveal some great story telling.
No mind you, the CD does falter on some of the tracks, due to Jeezy's tendency to fall back on crack tales when his ideas run thin. Thankfully, those areas are few and far between.
I would give this CD a 4.5/5 stars, bur due to the inability to give half a star, im giving it 5 beacause i still love it!

Young Jeezy is most famous for his unique husky voice, his ad libs (yeah, hahaha) his past life as a hustler and his obsession for earning fast money and drugs, infact he's known as Snowman for good reason. He almost came from nowhere in 2005 with an excellent album in "Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101" and one year later he also dropped a great sequel in "The Inspiration". Both albums featured the aformentioned themes and a production (mostly from southerners) that was rough with with pompous synth beats. Jeezy may not be among the best rappers, but he's easily recognizable, A great storyteller and a guy that mix themes about the hood and how he got away from it and got rich. "Soul Survivor" with Akon became his biggest hit to date reaching a memorable #4h position in 2005. Other memorable songs were "My Hood", "I Luv It", "Dreamin" and "I Got Money" where Kanye West recently borrowed his voice for "Can't Tell Me Nothing". Jeezy also recently appeared on big time R&B artists songs like Usher's "Love In The Club" and Mariah Carey's non-single "Side Effects". He's without a doubt an emcee to count on.
With Jeezy's third album "The Recession" we find a very simular concept coming back, (production and themes sound exactly like his past two). Afterall, songs about money is what name dropping is to The Game or hustling is to Rick Ross. Alot of fammiliar faces are also back on the prodution side like Shawety Redd, Drumma Boy, Don Cannon and J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, what dissapoint me is the lack of guys like Mannie Fresh, Cool & Dre, The Runners or even someone bigger like J.R Rotem or Timbaland. As popular as Jeezy is he could bring some better name to the blueprint. The most memorable songs here nonetheless are "By The Way" where he ends every line in the chorus with the title name. "Amazin" which is a trademark Jeezy song, raw, streetsmart and catchy, kind of like what T.I does. "Circulate" breaks the synth barries and goes old skool soul (samples Billy Paul) and is a welcome addition here. "Word Play" is for the haters and it is simular with a soul sample. "Mr President" with Nas follows the same formula as "Black President" and Jeezy sais his president is Black. He's more suited to talk about the streets then politics, but in these election times I understand his thoughts. Unfortunately there is alot of filler too, more songs about money, drugs like "What They Want", "Hustlaz Ambition", "Don't You Know", "Get Alot" and the naughty "Takin It There" with Trey Songz. The two singles so far have also been luckluster, "Put On" with Kanye West talking nonsense with a vocoder and "Vacation" with it's obvious purpose. There are also other songs that I won't get into.
Overall, The "Recession" got it's moments even if they're few, but instead of expanding his barriers, Jeezy mostly recycle what he already did and with an album of 18 songs there is simply too much filler and too many songs sounding the same. I was hoping that this would be the album where Jeezy did something new and got the commercial success he deserved (New Producers, some interesting guests) but instead he play safe with songs mostly for his fans. Atleast he didn't invite Lil Wayne. However, this album is just alright. Give it a try if you like his past stuff, otherwise try something else. 2'5.

I got the chance to listen to this all the way through yesterday, cuase a friend of mine made me listen to it, and I can honestly say, The Recession sounds like everything else he's ever done. If there's anything that sticks out, it's some of the beats, and the guest appearance by Nas. Other than that, jeezy provides nothing new. It seems like alot of MC's now of days just rely on dancable beats, and slack when it comes to the rhymes, and jeezy sure as hell is guilty of that ... his "lyrics" prove my statment correct. As usual, he raps more and more about his past as a hustler. He must really like his younger years, cause 90% of the time, that's all he can write about. Sorry jeezy, but we get the point.
If he put more thought, effort, and creativity in his work, and not recycle the same redundant material over and over, I'd give the dude and this album mad props, but he fails to do so, that's why I give this a one star.
To be honest, this album isn't worth the money. If you're at all interested in this, and wanna give it a shot, I suggest downloading, or copying it. The Recession isn't worth your hard earned money. PEACE!
