Album Description Thirty-five years since they last performed there as an opening act, Daryl Hall and John Oates returned to the Troubadour in May of 2008 to find the legendary Los Angeles club nearly unchanged. The same can't be said for the fourth-biggest act of the '80s (after Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince), and the best-selling duo ever. For two nights, they delighted fans with a nonstop barrage of unforgettable hits, all of which are included on this sensational two-hour concert. Now you can experience this sold-out, $200-ticket show in your own living room. Two-hour concert taped in front of a wildly enthusiastic audience, and featuring 19 songs, including all of their biggest hits. Features a fan-pleasing mix of classics such as "Private Eyes," "Maneater," "Kiss On My List," "Sara Smile," "She's Gone," "Rich Girl," "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)," "Family Man," and "You Make My Dreams," along with deep cuts and fan favorites. Six songs never before available on a live release, including "Everything Your Heart Desires" and "When The Morning Comes." 3-disc set containing the DVD and the full concert spread across 2 CDs.

Amazing Performance!!! November 28, 2008 Kathryn S. Oleary (Massachusetts) 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
It hardly seems as though thirty-five years have passed since Daryl Hall and John Oates played The Troubadour. These gentlemen are like a fine wine - they get better with age! If you are looking for a cookie cutter recording of the songs you know and love, this CD may not be right for you. That being said, I submit to you that with the new arrangements and instrumentation found on this CD, your favorite songs will sound better than ever! What is apparent to the listener is the fact that the vocal performances and harmonies are stronger and more intense than ever before. In addition, the multi-faceted and extremely talented T-Bone Wolk and Charlie DeChant shine bright during this performance. As for the DVD part of the package... I cannot give it such high reviews. The editor on the project has seen fit to jam the performance full of extremely quick cuts - enough to cause the viewer to need a dose of Dramamine. There are blatant mis-synched shots where Daryl doesn't even look like he's singing the same song as being played. I am aware that this was a two night, best of, compilation. But, I believe that any of their single song performances would have served the viewer better than what was slapped together. It was a good effort, but I feel more of the performance electricity by listening to the CD than watching the DVD. If you are a die hard fan that HAS to see the performance in order to take away the magic, then buy the combo. If you are truly a music aficionado, and simply want to envelop yourself in the joy that is "Hall and Oates," then the CD is the way to go. For me, listening to "When the Morning Comes," brings me back to a moment in time when a young child fell in love, simply by turning on her AM radio. So, on this Thanksgiving night, I give thanks that Daryl and John (and all which encompass Hall and Oates) continue to share their gift with all of us!
I was delighted ! December 16, 2008 Doug's J amazon My expectations were rewarded, this is a Very Good DVD! Hall and Oates performed to their best, with a wide range of favorites and some newly written material.
Excellent concert December 23, 2008 Golden Rose Hall and Oates fans will enjoy this excellent concert, a mix of classic hits and some recent tunes such as "Getaway Car" and "Taxi Driver." Both are in good voice and play acoustic guitars through most of the concert (though backed with their usual band). The result is some original guitar interplay and some lovely vocal duets on "If I'd Known You Then" and "She's Gone." DVD and cds cover the same set in the same order. DVD is less stirring than the VH-1 request concert, but this is still a must-have for real fans.
Daryl Hall & John Oates: Live at the Troubadour December 28, 2008 D. Reber (California) Daryl Hall & John Oates- Live at the Troubadour I bought two copies: one for me and another for my son who is a musician. This live performance absolutely rocks! What great performers and musicians Daryl and John are --- not to mention the entire band. This acoustic performance at the Troubadour is a must for anyone who's a Hall & Oates fan; or even if not, they'd become one just by watching this (or listening to the CDs). These guys certainly get better with age --- my hat's off to them! My personal favorites are: Getaway Car, Uncanny and those they play from their Abandoned Luncheonette album. They truly are the Best Duo of all times.
