5 out of 5 stars Greatest Hits   March 1, 2001

The last review gave this disc 3 stars, but, having owned ALL the 2 Live Crew CD's at one point in my life, I have to say that this is actually a 5 star Greatest Hits CD. These songs are actually the best ones the group recorded. If you were going to buy an entire CD, I'd recommend As Nasty As They Wanna Be, or Sports Weekend, maybe even Banned in the USA if you're really a fan. Other than that, I'd just get the greatest hits. It has the cool novelty songs of the first two albums (the albums aren't good enough to buy the whole thing) so go with the G.H. CD and get the handfull of cool song from the first two plus the rest of the classics from their newer CD's.

You know exactly what you are getting when you buy a 2 Live Crew album... This kind of music is why Rockford/Fosgate sold the epicenter. Hilarious (yes, sometimes only if you're a man) lyrics, HUGE amounts of bass, and nothing to think about. Around 1990 or '91, this is the only thing that played over my 4 15's.

5 out of 5 stars Three stars??? You have to be kidding!   February 13, 2004

Man, 2 Live Crew is the godfathers of this style! They popularized miami bass and all that. There would be no 'dirty south' hip-hop if it wasn't for them, plus this here got all their hits. Ain't no better buy for your money if you into x-rated, bass-heavy dance/rap music. Well, DJ Boss Pimp is raw too, but really he just ripped the style from 2 Live Crew and mixed it Mix-a-lot. But on the real, Boss Pimp can't hang with 2 Live. But if you want something new that sound like 2 Live Crew/Luke, then check out DJ Boss Pimp.

1 out of 5 stars Fans of them must have TIN ears.   July 9, 2007

You know the first couple songs around you think that they have some pretty good party tunes, then you realise all of their music sounds EXACTLY the same. These guys have no place amongst other hip-hop legends like Pac, Biggie & Nas. If you heard at least 3 of their songs, then you've heard everything that they've made because their style is not diverse at all. The same speedo tempo, the same topics, seriously these guys have like 200 songs about the same thing. Hate if you want I'm speaking the truth.

5 out of 5 stars I have to agree with the other guy...   October 1, 2005

2 Live Crew STARTED Hard-Core RAP period. Before the Ghetto Boys before Eazy-E it was Luke that literally opened the gates for these other guys learning about sampaling songs and trying new music (ie. As Nasty As They Wanna Be) That album was BANNED so they fought for free speech and won that fight. 9 out of 10 good rap artists, I BET, would say that Luke Campbell (SP?) was and is one of the founding fathers of hard core rap!
