Yes We Can HOPE for a Great CD November 15, 2008 Music Freak 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
This CD is a perfect reflection of everything the Obama campaign and his future for our country stands for. The Lionel Richie track is just an amazing and uplifting track, and the collaboration of Malik, Kanye West and Adam Levine is a real stunner! The John Legend interpretation of the U2 track is beautiful and a testament to both Legend's talent and the quality of the original song. The packaging is awesome and the 52 page book that is included is a wonderful read and I will cherish this for years to come. I intend to purchase several of these as gifts for the holidays.

Making History! November 17, 2008 Tuned In, Turned Up 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
This CD is by FAR, one of the best political souvenirs to have on hand, while it marks history as well. Such inspirational music mirrors exactly what we felt during the Barack Obama campaign. The music is awe inspiring, thought-provoking, toe tapping, finger snapping and a musical piece to uphold for years to come. I can't remember the last time I purchased a CD and didn't tire of it's message and music after repeated plays. The booklet that comes with this collector's edition alone, is worth the price of the CD. I'm giving this to everyone I know for Christmas--a gift with meaning and a piece of history. Don't sleep on this one!!!
DON'T BE FOOLED... November 14, 2008 Gabrielle F. (California) 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
DON'T BE FOOLED by the popular names on the album. They are mostly reused songs that may have an inkling of relevance to this historic time in our country. I was fooled when my local bluegrass show played "America The Beautiful," a wonderful combo of a bluegrass rendition peppered with President Obama's words. I instantly bought 3 copies of the album thinking that all of the songs were going to be inspiring like this one. WRONG! The accompanying literature claimed that the producers had listened to thousands of songs, that this movement was reflected through music, and that music was being created especially for this time in our history. So, where are these songs?
For Inauguration Parties and Followers of The Barackopolis November 17, 2008 Flap Jackson (State Road, NC) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Make of him what you will, but Barack Obama has sparked a fervor not seen in politics since the 60s. This mania peaked on November 4th with his election, and with it the dancing in the streets, and public tears of joy, smiles and high-fives by the national media. Now if you're one of the popular people whose who's starting the trend of inauguration parties, then you might want this album for your background music. Basically it's a mix-tape and a celebration of Obama with his various ideas, especially the montra of peace, love and change. It has some good tracks, some interesting covers and all, but what really hinders this album from being anything other than a party album is the fact that with these songs are spliced together with various Obama-bites and speeches. Like those creepy YouTube videos with clips of Obama speeches mixed with citizens finishing the lines, with epic classical pieces making the guy look like a god. This might be ok the first time around, but this gets old really fast, making the replay value here, nil to none. I think Sheryl Crow's "A Change Would Do You Good" should have also been added to the mix somewhere. So overall, if you're one of the people who The Onion reported on after the election (you know, those people who didn't know what to do with their life after campaigning for the guy for so long), or if you're just hosting a Obama-party, then you might like this CD. I'd personally rather play Slacker Radio's Obama radio station. Cashing in on the fervor, and annoying you with Obama-speech-splicing, I'd just pass on this CD. Real Score: 2.5
