simply an incredible ost...love it. November 6, 2008 Herbert Ferdinand (Frankfurt/Main) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
In comparison to QAF here u find a lot of tracks that were carefully selected with a lot of heart. Starting with two great dancetracks ...less stomping more pumping..than the predictable QAF soundtracks which had a few moments with tracks from Lauper and Heather Small this one shows more variety...and taste. Ray young and Tje Austin bring u heartbreaking tunes...Spies is funky as prince can be. Pam Jones Wages shows the sassyness of the most known khia tracks and phoebe snow takes us back..as powerful as amy...but with a whole lotta more grace and style. Thank u for feeling proud...about what gay culture can be. U got me addicted...instantly.
Noah's Arc - Jumping the Broom, movie sound track November 29, 2008 Kenneth Farris (Inglewood, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Noah's Arc fans will automatically purchase this sound track to add to their collection. The CD contains 14 songs from the fabulous movie which was viewed by sold out screenings across the country. The CD also includes an 18 page booklet of pictures, lyrics and commentary by creator, Patrik-Ian Polk which fans will appreciate. Top songs on the CD include, "We Break the Dawn" by Michelle Williams, "Sandcastle Disco" by Solange Knowles and "World, Hold On" by Bob Sinclair. Both Michelle and Solange songs are a Karmatronic Remix (house version) from the original R&B versions of the songs from the movie. I admit that I was disappointed that the CD did not include both versions. For us old school fans, it was great to hear from Phoebe Snow, who does a cameo in the movie and sings two songs. Her most memorable is "Something Real" sung at the wedding reception in the movie. Top song and most memorable on the CD is "I Love U" by Nikki Jane, which I think will become the signature song from the movie. It plays during the ending credits and leaves you with a great feeling that the Noah's Arc story has the proper ending it deserves. Other songs provide a variety of styles that I'm sure were selected to provide the appropriate dramatic feelings to the scenes in the movie, which is shared by Patrik in the commentary. Kudos to Patrik for producing and directing an excellent film and movie sound track. Compliments to the entire cast for well acted performances that fans will cherish for years to come.
Broom Jumpers December 13, 2008 Roy J. Warner (Silver Spring, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After seeing the movie (just a few blocks from the WHITE HOUSE) I went home & immediately ordered the soundtrack. I've been listening to it ever since, at work, at home, in the car. It was full of pleasant surprises hearing it in the background in the movie. Just listening to it on it's own, now has brought to life many of the best parts of the movie & the message it sent. I certainly hope there'll be many more opportunities to listen to & watch these characters in the future. Who ever did the soundtrack really had great insight into how sound enhances the story. Thanks for the joy of listening, can't wait to get the DVD!
