Description Thirty-five years since they last performed there as an opening act, Daryl Hall and John Oates returned to the Troubadour in May of 2008 to find the legendary Los Angeles club nearly unchanged. The same can't be said for the fourth-biggest act of the '80s (after Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince), and the best-selling duo ever. For two nights, they delighted fans with a nonstop barrage of unforgettable hits, all of which are included on this sensational two-hour concert. Now you can experience this sold-out, $200-ticket show in your own living room. Two-hour concert taped in front of a wildly enthusiastic audience, and featuring 19 songs, including all of their biggest hits. Features a fan-pleasing mix of classics such as "Private Eyes," "Maneater," "Kiss On My List," "Sara Smile," "She's Gone," "Rich Girl," "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)," "Family Man," and "You Make My Dreams," along with deep cuts and fan favorites. Six songs never before available on a live release, including "Everything Your Heart Desires" and "When The Morning Comes."

Incredible concert--can't wait to see it again! October 15, 2008 M.R. (Los Angeles, CA) 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I was at the second show this was taped at--amazing, amazing show. Can't wait to get this DVD and see it again! Daryl and John were in great form and the band was as tight as could be. If you're a fan, you owe it to yourself to get this!
Really enjoyable "unplugged" sort of set!! w/bonus' November 6, 2008 Richardson (Sunny California USA) 6 out of 8 found this review helpful
I just picked this up used at my local record store (yes, we have a couple where I live...envy me!) and I'm not sure why I did but boy am I glad! Its a very "unplugged" sort of treatment..which I favor over electronica anyway...and the songs really are not hidden behind too much production but the band is very very good. nearly 20 songs are played 2 hours (much better than all the 1 hour half shows on DVD these days) and Halls voice is still very very good..blue eyed soul. The bonus interviews are also a nice touch.. If you are a fan this should be a "buy it now"...if your not, I'm not sure why you are reading but this would be a good DVD to start with and you will find you know more of these songs than you thought you did! I believe Hall and Oates officially passed Simon & Garfunkel as the most popular duo of all time many many years ago...and all I mention that for is to note they did have a serious string of hits!
Amazing Performance!!! November 29, 2008 Kathryn S. Oleary (Massachusetts) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
It hardly seems as though thirty-five years have passed since Daryl Hall and John Oates played The Troubadour. These gentlemen are like a fine wine - they get better with age! If you are looking for a cookie cutter recording of the songs you know and love, this CD may not be right for you. That being said, I submit to you that with the new arrangements and instrumentation found on this CD, your favorite songs will sound better than ever! What is apparent to the listener is the fact that the vocal performances and harmonies are stronger and more intense than ever before. In addition, the multi-faceted and extremely talented T-Bone Wolk and Charlie DeChant shine bright during this performance. As for the DVD part of the package... I cannot give it such high reviews. The editor on the project has seen fit to jam the performance full of extremely quick cuts - enough to cause the viewer to need a dose of Dramamine. There are blatant mis-synched shots where Daryl doesn't even look like he's singing the same song as being played. I am aware that this was a two night, best of, compilation. But, I believe that any of their single song performances would have served the viewer better than what was slapped together. It was a good effort, but I feel more of the performance electricity by listening to the CD than watching the DVD. If you are a die hard fan that HAS to see the performance in order to take away the magic, then buy the combo. If you are truly a music aficionado, and simply want to envelop yourself in the joy that is "Hall and Oates," then the CD is the way to go. For me, listening to "When the Morning Comes," brings me back to a moment in time when a young child fell in love, simply by turning on her AM radio. So during this season of giving, I thank Daryl and John (and all that encompass Hall and Oates)for continually sharing their gift with all of us!
H2O the best Duo of all time. Best ever September 14, 2008 Joshua Bagwell (Grand Prairie, TX USA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've loved Hall and Oates music ever sense i was little. There songs are timeless and express the true meaning of love and lif. That will always withstand the test of time. I really wish that music cds would use something like blu-ray tech so i dont have to worry about my cds not playing because of minor problems cds have.
I WAS THERE!!!! October 1, 2008 Anne M. Viggiani (Mississauga, Ontario) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
Obviously haven't seen the dvd as yet, but I was there and it was one of the best H&O concerts ever. I've travelled to NY, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, Toronto, Hamilton, Los Angeles....if I can get a flight, I'm there! They are the BEST!
