| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com This is one of those soundtracks that may have worked better during the vinyl era. Most of the tunes here (each and every one a '50s rock classic) are likely already in the CD collections of fans of this kind of music. That's probably the case with Buddy Holly, Ben E. King, the Del Vikings (two cuts here), the Coasters, Jerry Lee Lewis, and perhaps Shirley & Lee. It's probably not true of the Chordettes' "Lollipop," but that tune is used to such great effect in this terrific flick that you may just want to watch the video again. You can't go wrong with 10 feel-good classics. --Bill Holdship

Wonderful companion to the touching movie "Stand By Me" April 4, 1999 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Since the movie is so wonderful and touching, the soundtrack is a good CD to go with the collection. For "Stand By Me" fans or fans of 50s music, this CD is an excellent choice. Stand By Me by Ben E King is a classic.
30 minute cd? May 19, 2003 jay kenyon (LAS VEGAS, NV USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This cd is a great collection of what I think a kid in the 50's grew up listening to. They are all staples that you've always heard, and perhaps taken for granted. They are all classics. This is a wonderful collection. I'd give it five stars but it clocks in at 30 minutes.
A spectacular sountrack for a spectacular film!!!! October 15, 1998 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Stand By Me is one of those films that if you were born in the late seventies early eighties, like I, you loved to watch simply because it was a coming-of-age film that we could relate to. I was born in 1980, so I would always see the film on television on the weekends. Rob Reiner created a masterpiece and the songs picked for the film are treasures that evoke that sense of nostalgia that movie fans long for. The soundtrack is wonderful. "Ben King's Stand by Me" is powerful when played in the end as the credits role. Perhaps no eyes are dry in that incredible moment. I know mine aren't.
Stand By Me- A must buy October 22, 2000 5 out of 6 found this review helpful
These are ten of the best songs from one of the best decades in American history. The 50's were a time of promise, but more importantly, a celebration of youth. Some of the cuts are just pointless rock classics only good for blasting in your droptop on the expressway. But Ben E. King's Stand By Me never fails to bring a tear to my eye. Anyone who doesn't feel moved by this track must have a coffin and a tombstone because they're already dead. Bottom Line: this CD is a must buy. If you don't have it you should take a long look in the mirror and ponder your existence
