Point of Grace's "A Christmas Story" December 5, 2004 Melissa M. Rotolo (Lakenheath, England) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I have to admit I'm a sucker for Christmas music. However, one CD that gets repeated on my CD player at any time of the year is this one by the extremely talented group POG. The instrumentals are beautiful and when accompanied by the women's vocals, provide emotional impact at every listen. The songs dealing directly with our Savior's birth are vivid reminders of why we are celebrating the holiday in the first place without being preachy. The secular songs showcase the fun and joy of being together with family and friends. Overall, I think this is POG's best work.
An Excellect Cd to add to any collection July 17, 2003 Dee (Riverview, Michigan United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful

Christmas as it Should Sound like. December 6, 2003 William C. Smith (Swannanoa, NC USA) 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I got this cd back when it first came out and I wrote a review then that wasn't so great. My stereo at the time wasn't working properly and the first time I heard this CD on another cd player, I was amazed. That review isn't here any longer and I'm glad. So let me say if you like Christian songs of Christmas, if you like music that plays in your head over and over again, catchy tunes that you find yourself whistling and humming. If you're a fan of Point of Grace or you just love Christmas music that shouts out the true meaning of the holiday, celebrating our Lord's birth, you've got to have this CD. I've bought many Christmas CD's but this one is the best. It is my favorite Christmas CD. The music is fantastic, and the singing is superb. You won't regret this purchase. There is one tune on here that, for me, really expresses where all our hearts should be at this time of year, "Light of the World". Thank you Point of Grace, for making my Christmas white with promise, full of cheer and good tidings of great joy of our Lord and King throughout every year. I listen to it every year at Christmas and sometimes Easter, 4th of July, whenever. It always brings me joy. I have to say I feel really close to Bethlehem when you sing those last notes of song. It's my wish that all who hear these songs will feel the love of Christ as I have, and find their peace in Him.
Gorgeous CD October 3, 2004 E. Nelson 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is one of the only CDs at my house that everyone likes...it has jazzy tunes, pop tunes, AND beautiful classical pieces. Most are well-known Christmas songs (with signature Point of Grace embellishments), but there are a few original melodies, too. We love it so much that we popped it in the CD player as we were driving through 105* weather in Missouri this summer!!
A very modern Christmas album January 12, 2005 Peter Durward Harris (Leicester England) 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
Beginning with a very brief (and barely recognizable) cover of Joy to the world, Carl Marsh's complex and dramatic orchestral arrangements are the distinctive feature of this album. This orchestra is not lush - it rocks. The beautiful harmonies of the four ladies (Denise, Shelley, Heather and Terry) are sometimes near to being drowned out by the orchestra, yet somehow they never are. Their harmonies combine with the orchestra to best effect on the old classics, which sound fresh and vibrant in such a setting. However many versions you've heard of Angels we have heard on high, Let it snow let it snow let it snow, Sleigh ride, Carol of the bells, What child is this, O holy night, O come O come Emmanuel, Santa Claus is coming to town, Jingle bells and Coventry carol, Point of Grace and their orchestra are different, even where (as on O holy night), the orchestra is restrained - this merely heightens the effect of the orchestra on the other tracks. There are five original songs, all of which are magnificent, for which lyrics are provided in the accompanying booklet. One other song, How great our joy, was new to me when I bought this. I haven't heard it anywhere else but it's a great song. If you are looking for a traditional Christmas album, look elsewhere - but if you are looking for something modern and distinctive, this may interest you.
