Album Description 2006 album from this lively performer from Spain. Buika mixes Flamenco with Soul, Jazz and Funk, always keeping her sound fresh and original. She has earned critical and commercial success across Europe and has even enchanted audiences in Las Vegas, Nevada! 'It takes all of one minute to appreciate why this album has been such a hit in Spain [...] the results are nothing less than hypnotic. A star is born!'- Clive Davis The Sunday Times. Warner. 2007.

Flamenco redefined November 16, 2006 Francisco Rappaport (Northeast Woodlands) 12 out of 13 found this review helpful
I was in Spain and it was late at night. I was scrolling through channels on the television and I came upon a live concert of various flamenco musicians. Enters Concha Buika . . . I was quite unprepared. I was so moved that I couldn't stop talking about it for days. Riviting!! absolutely riviting performance! and it's the first time I've ever used that word. She is probably the most unique and fantastic singer/musician I have ever encountered. Her voice is a natural instrument so fine, so beautiful and rich that it's difficult to believe that she's only human. Many flamenco artists had performed, all great. But, when Concha took the stage her intrinsic beauty alone was so stunning that everyone was immediately captivated. Then she began to sing . . . it was devastatingly beautiful!!! Something so magnificent and pure that she floored the entire audience. When her set was finished there was a brief silence as everyone collected themselves, then a standing round of applause that must have gone on for five minutes. Absolutely remarkable!! She redefines the word rare.

This is my first review ever on Amazon, but I feel compel to let everybody know how great this album is. It is jazz, it is blues, it is Spanish music at its best. This one is on my top 5 ever. It is just brilliant.
Insuperable May 23, 2007 Jezz (Guayaquil, Ecuador) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Absolutamente recomendable.

i first became exposed to concha buika in 2002 when i heard her singing a fantastic house music dance mix called EVERYDAY and right then i knew this lady had what they call in the biz: "it" . She is one of the most gifted and talented performers i have seen in the last decade. her versatility in singing ballad, flamenco,afro-cuban,house,techno,dance,and other genres is amazing and do them all well.Ipredict her the next up and coming. Americans are slow to impress sometimes, but be patient, talent prevails.THis cd is all geared to the slow primitive jazz flamenco compositions all emotive and spiritual. great cd .

Flamenco fire smoldering in an allusive, illusive and hypnotic pulse. Direct to my HEART. This music just shimmers, flashes, sparks and glows...the voice is phenomenal, emotion-drenched and potent. The arrangements are stunning, understated, always surprising. The instrumentation brilliant and inspired. The production clean, live and punchy...A flawless joy of a CD. Thanks so much Buika, et al!!!
