THE MASTER OF MUSIC HAS MET A FRIEND! February 11, 2000 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
This was a score that truly amazed me,Danny Elfman wrote the music, wrote the lyrics, and even sang every song that was involving Jack, also considering the fact that Danny was the lead singer of the band "Oingo Boingo"!Jack,in the words of Danny Elfman, was and allways will be close to Danny's heart! This was a beak through for Danny, one of his best scores since "Batman" and "Edward Sissohands"!Boasting music by Danny! This is also another Tim Burton film,Danny and Tim are actually best friends, and Danny Elfman has done the score to every movie Tim Burton has directed, with the exception of "Ed Wood",even the movie "Sleepy Hollow"! This album was great, and especially good during the hollidays!I don't think there is one song on there that I don't like!I never will regret buying that CD!
The best music I have ever heard! January 30, 2000 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
If you love to hear interesting, strange, wonderfully written music this soundtrack is for you! I have listened to it non-stop for 2 months. Danny Elfman is the best composer on Earth! If you do get this cd I recommend to first listen to the Overture, This is Halloween, Whats this?, and Making Christmas. Those are my favorates, but if you want the whole affect listen to it from the begining to the end. I found it to be extremely inspiring while I was writing two essays at school. The story that Jack told gave me great ideas for my literature. Do the world a favor and buy this cd!
"Take A Chance And Roll The Dice..." April 2, 2000 8 out of 10 found this review helpful
I originally purchased this CD simply as another item for mysmall Danny Elfman collection. Out of the three I ordered at thattime, I cared about this one the least. That changed very quickly.Normally, I must listen to a CD at least twice before I can even begin to like it. This disc has the distinction of being the first to win me over instantly. The music is beautiful and suiting, the lyrics tell the story perfectly and are absolutely fitting, and the voices are wonderful. Every song that should sounds as though it's not just words put to music, but the deepest thoughts and emotions of the characters. There is one warning I must offer about this CD, however: Its addictive properties far excel those of any drink or drug. Horrible effects of withdrawal occur if I go too long without hearing this CD. Although it starts with mere irritability, I soon begin acting out strange, obsessive repetitive motions. Like an irrational monkey, I assault inanimate objects at random before collapsing into a corner, hugging my knees close, and whispering the tunes quietly to myself. Or at least, that's what I assume would happen. I haven't gone a day without listening to this disc since I finally got it, just over a month ago.

Elfman + Burton = Weird Excelence!!! August 31, 2000 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
When I first see "The Nightmare Before Christmas", the first thought I had was "This is weird! But is Excelent!!" Of course, I had to bought the soundtrack, (I've always been a big fan of Danny Elfman and Tim Burton, and I have a big Soundtrack collection)and I fell in love since the first note. You don't need to see the movie to enjoy this CD, is just the greatest (and extrangest) acoustic experience you'll ever have!! The voices are perfectly cast, the music make you feel inside of the weird world Burton created, this is what I call MUSIC. I think that the key to succes was this: Contrast. We get sad ballads, happy songs, Christmas and Halloween, all in one. Burton gave us a new great visual world, and Elfman complemented it with the best music he has ever composed. And I thank them for that....
