#1 R&B Group in the Biz Today January 19, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best R&B group to come out since Jodeci, way back when. This CD is excellent from start to finish, my only wish is that it was longer. "I Gotta Be" is one of the best R&B jams of all time. Everybody go get the new album "Heartbreak".......

A JAGGED MASTERPIECE! January 18, 2002 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Now Jagged Edge may be a multi-platinum R&B supergroup but there 1998 debut,"A Jagged Era" was a male R&B group gem which got overlooked.Wheras Jagged's next two albums would debut inside Billboard's Top Ten,this album peaked at only #124."A Jagged Era" showcases the Atlanta-based group's strong, sturdy vocals(especially Brandon& Brian Casey's) that mix ruffneck attitide with tender R&B feeling. This set's gem was "It's Gotta Be".A ballad so tender yet rough. It was so good that Jagged's producer Jermaine Dupri bite the melody of this song on Jagged's future hits "Promise" and "Goodbye". "Slow Motion" and "Ready & Willing" are two other gems. These should've been released as singles-if you ask me! But "A Jagged Era"isn't all slow though. You can't hear the blistering workout "The Way That You Talk To Me" and NOT dance. This album was a very, very strong R&B debut and too bad it didn't get it's props but at least,Jagged Edge are enjoying their glory now.
