This album is a must buy! I loved the whole CD. But I have my favorites, "What you tryin' to do," "He can't love you," "Let's get married," "Promise," "Keys to the range," and "True Man." If you have not gone out to get this CD, please do. Much Love to JE!

Jagged Edge has done it again ! after there first album.. they come back even stronger then the first one .. These four brothas can blow.. Mixing smooth harmonzing , with some hip hop edge flava makes for the perfect mix for this 4 man group.. They shine on the ballads.. that is there forte.. but they show they can groove with the best of them grooves come courtesy of Jermaine Dupri.. Some of the best cuts .. He cant love u, Girl is mine, Healing, Did she say, True man, Keys to the range, Promises..
R&B balladry at its best................ August 21, 2000 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
when they do sing a ballad. If it wasnt for the flawless ballads( which even include the intro "Heartbreak") then this cd would be in gardbage can immediately. Songs like "Healing", "True Man", and "Promise" make this cd a bargain. The ballads showed at some times sound the same with the guitar-laced background but each is definitive in its own way. Surprisingly enough, the over played wedding song "Let's Get Married" isnt even close to one of the best songs on this album. In my opinion, "He Can't Love You" and the previously mentioned other ballads exceed the current single. The only uptempo song on this album that is worth listening to is the Beatnut-looped "Did She Say", which was what saved Jermain Dupri from going on my blacklist of music(Which currently contains Mary J. Blige and the entire Cash Money society) Now that my blood pressure is up ,I"m ready to discuss the low points of this album. Brandon and Brian Casey who wrote all the songs, need to be slapped for allowing songs like "Keys to the Range", "Lace You", and "Can I Get With You" to make it on the cd in the first place. In my opinion, Jagged Edge is a very below average group when they arent singing ballads. Jermaine Dupi really brought this cd from 5 stars to 4 but Brandon and Brian made it, otherwise, a classic.

Jagged Edge is one of the premier groups in R&B music. Their sophomore CD, titled "J.E. Heartbreak," pays homage to R&B supergroup New Edition and continues the tradition of good R&B. The first release from the album, "He Can't Love You," claimed the airways and helped boost album sales to platinum status. The second single, "Let's Get Married," quickly dominated the charts and became the wedding song of 2000 with its simplistic and realistic chorus, but the hits do not stop there. "What You Tryin' To Do" is a perfect example of the exceptional tracks on the album, whether they are released as singles or not. Not only known for ballads, J.E. speeds up the tempo on songs like "Keys to the Range," from the "Blue Streak" soundtrack," "Girl Is Mine" and "Did She Say," which contains a sample from the Beatnuts. The album features production by So So Def CEO Jermaine Dupri. The majority of the al-bum's tracks are written by the group members, which adds to the list of Jagged Edge's endless talents. The guys' band name and style of dress may confuse some people into thinking they are rappers, but their infectious love ballads let everyone know they can sing. That contrast, originated by groups such as BBD and Jodeci, has helped to widen Jagged Edge's appeal to male and female listeners alike. Brian Casey, Brandon Casey, Kyle Norman and Richard Wingo are four men who can all sing and dance. Two of the guys happen to be identical twins, while another is a high school classmate. Sounds like a boys band-formula gimmick? Maybe, but definitely not in the case of Jagged Edge.
