5 out of 5 stars A CD with one of the best romantic songs I've ever heard!!!   April 9, 2005
11 out of 14 found this review helpful

I remember when I first heard "I Wanna Love You Forever" on the radio, it is one of the best love songs I've ever heard and totally loved the way Jessica sang!! I bought the single and eventually the Sweet Kisses CD and this CD is amazing!!! My favorite song obviously is I Wanna Love You Forever but other favorites are I Think I'm In Love With You which samples John Cougar Mellencamp's Jack and Diane, Your Faith In Me, Where You Are (an awesome ballad with Nick Lachey), Final Heartbreak, and Heart Of Innocence but I love the whole CD!!! She has an amazing voice, not as good as Mariah Carey but still she definitely CAN SING!!! I would love to also slow dance to I Wanna Love You Forever on my wedding day/night at the reception with my husband, it's such a beautiful, wonderful, romantic ballad!!!

5 out of 5 stars Jessica's in a league of her own with "Sweet Kisses"   August 10, 2000

This CD is amazing! Jessica is so talented, and the songs on the album really compliment her voice. Short review:This album is worth buying. Here's how I feel about the individual tracks. Star= Notable track

*I Wanna Love You Forever~This was a great first single. It showed people that Jessica wasn't just a pretty face with a weak voice. I don't listen to it that much on my own, but it's really a powerful song.

*I Think I'm In Love With You~This song is really catchy, when I first heard it I just played it over and over......It's great for dancing or exercising.

*Where You Are~A nice song, I like the part Nick Lachey sings best. This didn't do well as a single, but I listen to it sometimes.

*Final Heartbreak~I was obsessed with this song when I first heard it. It's also great for dancing. Beware: This song will get stuck in your head for so long! I like this song because the lyrics are not what you're used to hearing.

Woman In Me~I can't listen to Woan In Me from start to finish, it's so boring. Destiny's Child doesn't help at all, this song is doomed.

*I've Got My Eyes On You~A really fun song, it's summery. It would be perfect for a movie soundtrack. You want to overplay it-But don't! It won't be as good when you listen to it together. Another great dance song!

Betcha She Don't Love You~You don't want to like this song, but it gets stuck in your head. It's okay, but not much compared to other tracks.

My Wonderful~This song and Woman In Me are the total flops of the album. Not much else to say. This song just diesn't have a point. Too teeny-boppery

Sweet Kisses~In this song Jessica souns a bit like Mariah Carey. It's a sweet song, almost a notable track.

*Your Faith In Me~THIS SONG IS UNBELIEVABLE! Seriously, I can't stress that enough! What is it doing at the back of the album? It's work it to buy "Sweet Kisses" just for this song. You can listen to it over and over and never get tired of it. Jessica's voice is dazzeling, this is the perfect song for her. It get's really soft on the sensitive parts, and then stronger and stronger, until at the end, she's belting her heart out. Hands down, best song on the album!

*Heart of Innocence~This song is really sweet. I like to listen to it right before I go to sleep. It's really soothing, and easy to relate to. Jessica co-wrote the song. A great closing for the album.

I hope this review was helpful, and encourage you to buy this album!

5 out of 5 stars With this voice, Jessica Simpson will be loved forever!   July 28, 2000

This is an awesome CD. The song, I Wanna Love You Forever, is a strong, slow, song that starts off with some creepy notes (as in, piano notes), but definatley shows the power of her voice. I Think I'm In Love kinda reminds me of Britney Spears, but is definately a catchy tune that will make you want to dance. Where You Are is a song you'll want to listen to again and again, because it shows the power of Jessica and 98 degrees member Nich Lachey's voice and relationship. Final Heartbreak is a tune that I love, but is also a bit like Britney. The Woman in Me is a song that shows that Jessica is not going to let a boy control her, and will be able to make her own desicions. Oh yes, Destiney's Child is excellent on this song. I've Got My Eyes On You is good.THe rest, Betcha She Don't Love You, My Wonderful, Sweet Kisses, Your Faith in Me, and Heart of Innocence are as well, excellent. My personal fav is Heart of Innocence. Buy this CD, and you won't be sorry. You will be able to listen to it again and again!

    3 out of 5 stars So-So   December 12, 1999

See, the way I look at it is, Mandy Moore:Britney Spears as Jessica Simpson:Christina Aguilera. Jessica has a strong, clear sound like Christina, while mandy has this childlike, baby voice like Britney. The only problem that I mainly see, besides the teeny bopping, cookie cutting, bubble gum popping, blondies, is that she whines when she sings. Don't get me wrong, she has a strong voice, but it's like she tries too hard and at points in her songs, it sounds like she whines.

    2 out of 5 stars She's no Mariah   October 11, 2000

"Music reviewers" these days tend to do one thing in common. If an artist sings throughout a song using her upper range, she is immediately compared to one of the powerhouse divas of today. Newcomer Columbia records star Jessica Simpson is one of the new pop acts to get a slap-in-the-face comparison. Hey, she is, after all, signed to the same label as Mariah; sings in the same fashion; and so why not? "The next Mariah Carey".

What many fail to understand is that when Mariah Carey sings using her upper register, she doesn't emit a screech nor a wail, but rather a TONE filled with vigor and strength. Unfortunately, the same does not apply to Jessica.

What I find annoying in most of the songs on the album is that Jessica tends to sing high notes most of the time. This is fine, but what chills me (and in a non-positive way) is that her high notes remind me of a siren, wailing down an empty street. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the girl can't sing - undoubtedly! She most definitely can! She shines on "Your Faith In Me", where she ditches the upper register for a change. Most of the other songs are just plain noisy - too shrill for the ears. And that's not the only fault. The songs themselves contain alot of room for improvement.

I believe Jessica will shine, but the material has got to be appropriate. Once that's taken care off, she should ditch singing in her upper register too often. Listen closely and you will even be able to hear the strain in her voice. She can sing, yes - but she's no Mariah.
