Should get better material July 25, 2001 11 out of 15 found this review helpful
This cd ain't the best I've heard but it aint the worst. She could've done better with some of the songs. The best track on here is Im real but she should've put the remix wit ja rule on there cau that song is mad tight like that fo sho I think that she should re-release it wit the mix just to make the cd a little better but that jus what I think. But yo on the reel get this cd if you into more of the pop junk then the r&b.
Just image and hype October 30, 2002 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I am from Puerto Rico, just like J.Lo, and in terms of putting our island on the international map, she gets my blessing. But I have to agree with another reviewer that she really can't sing at all. Plus, this album, like the others, is just mostly machine generated sounds, therefore not music. It is obviously purposefully manufactured with the only intention of selling as many cds as possible. Guess what? Given the ignorant musical climate of recent years and with her formidable physical beauty, that is not too difficult. Its the image that sells. To me, J.Lo's greatest talent is dancing, and second to that, acting. She could be a great choreographer/dance coach, and also an actress. That would make you rich enough, wouldn't it? Oh, well, long live good looks and the too-much-money-is-never-enough-so-lets-get-as-filthy-rich-as-possible mentality.
she didn't only steal mariah's tunes October 11, 2005 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
she and her overrated behind were already getting played out when this album was dropping on the charts cause janet jackson was kicking her ass making better hits than her and then she turned to hip hop so she could pay her bills and kept other talent from getting the hits they deserve
She CAN sing...a little. December 12, 2001 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
Well, her voice isn't as bad as Britney's, which is entirely computer-enhanced. And she can entertain without resorting to gimmicks. Jennifer simply doesn't have that great a voice. However, that doesn't matter when her songs become hits and this album has sprung four big ones so far. It's a good, but not a great album and worth buying at a discount. The hit singles are the best reason to buy it, especially the "Murder Remix" of "I'm Real", which was added a few months after the first release of the original "J. Lo.". There are a few pretty good non-singles on this. The rest is somewhat unmemorable filler. The best songs are: "Love Don't Cost a Thing"-Still my favorite single, although we've all heard it a million times. "I'm Real" (Original Version)-A fun, catchy tune which oddly features her ex, P. Diddy (or Puff Daddy, P. Diddly, Sean Puffball Combs, or whatever he calls himself now) who utters "She's a bad, bad, b@#$%!" in the background. Oddly, Puffy has written three of the songs on this hit album. "Play"-Not great, but catchy. Of course, this is where Lopez curses for the first time. It works here, because it comes out of left field. I just hope she doesn't think that she HAS to curse to sell records (which is a big complaint for Janet Jackson's "All For You" album). "Ain't It Funny" and "Carrino"-Two tunes with fun Latin beats. "I'm Real" (Murder Remix)-What an awful name for a remix! Anyway, it displays the talents of Ja Rule, a tough-minded rapper with a tender side. The song starts in-your-face, then gets touching, and Ja Rule and J. Lo. work well together. Lopez utters the "N" word a couple of times, which caused some controversey. While I'm not offended by the lyrics, she shouldn't sing any ghetto-style lyrics. They clash with her image. The two songs that precede "I'm Real" are pretty good Spanish tunes. The rest of the album is rather dull. Overall, a good buy if you're a fan, or just want her hits.
It's a sad world February 27, 2004 7 out of 14 found this review helpful
It's a sad world. I noticed the people who are fans of her pathetic acting in movies like her Cd's too which happens to be the spanish population. Let's face it she can't sing. Whitney Houston in prime could do everything right, J. Lopez can't at all wheather acting or singing.
