Great Effort August 29, 2001 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I just wanna say I bought this the day after this was re-released. I think J. Lo did a really good job on this album. I have her first album, which was the worst album I've ever purchased, so I waited a long time to buy this. Anyway, my favorite on here is I'm Real (murder remix). Some other favorites (in order from really good to good) are I'm Real, Play, Love Don't Cost a Thing, Come Over, We Gotta Talk, Walking on Sunshine, Dance With Me, and I'm Gonna Be Alright. I think this CD is definitely worth the buy.
Solid cd with plenty to offer October 12, 2001 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
With J. Lo, Jennifer Lopez proves that she is more than a no-talent pop diva. The wide range of songs shows that she can do many different things. The MTV TRL favorites "Love Don't Cost A Thing", "I'm Real", and "Play" are great, and the R&B driven "I'm Real (Murder Remix)" is also good. The lesser known "Ain't It Funny" is one of the best songs on the album, and deserves to be released as a single. However, the problem that plagues so many pop singers afflicts Jennifer. Her fast, dance-driven beats are great, but her slow songs aren't any good. You'll skip past the balleds on J. Lo to get to the faster songs. But all and all, Jennifer has put together a good cd with plenty of good tracks. Buy it, it's worth the money.
Amazing November 6, 2001 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
I bought this because I'd had the "I'm Real" remix in my head for days, but now I'm extremely happy to own it. Everything from the radio favorites "I'm Real", "Play", and "Love Don't Cost A Thing" to new greats like "Ain't It Funny". I highly recomend this CD!!!
Is that JLO'S niece singing with JARULE the song I 'M REAL? January 9, 2002 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
Don't tell me that , that's Jlo what , I thought it was her niece. You see people , when you come across so called "Artists" that don't know how to sing is very hard to recognize their voice cause they change it all the time. Just listen to the song I'AM REAL with JARULE, it totally dosen't sound like her. I think JLO needs to go back and get into the 6 train and get back to singing school, and stop asking her niece for favors.Don't buy it!!
Updated review, it gets old... March 29, 2002 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
As much as I like Jennifer Lopez, I'm afraid this CD gets old fast. The only one's worth listening to are "Love Don't Cost A Thing", "Play", "Aint It Funny", "I'm Real (Murder Remix)" and "Secretly." Her voice eventually gets annoying. She shouldn't try singing so hard. Just use it nice and lightly. I mean, look at how well Gloria Estifan used her decent voice when it was not exactly really spectacular. "I'm Gonna Be Alright" is another good upbeat song and the remix (featuring 50 Cent) is just as good. The Rodney "DarkChild" Jenkins track "That's The Way" is fun but still only mediocore. "DarkChild" hasn't produced a good-quality song since 1999. I'm not gonna even go into how bad the original "I'm Real" is. It really needed remixing big time...so call on Murder Inc; it sounds great! As for her next release she needs to work less on trying to sing like she has an extremely powerful voice (like christina has). Otherwise I would only reccomend this to teenagers and the diehard fans. Overall grade for "J LO": C/C+
